Chapter 28

Ronald's laughter intensified after receiving a compliment from Mason. However, when his gaze unintentionally drifted to Brendan, his body trembled, and his smile froze.

At that moment, Brendan's glare felt like a sharp knife piercing Ronald's soul.

"Brendan, I was only joking earlier. Please don't send me to such a remote place. I couldn't possibly survive there," Ronald begged.

Brendan merely smirked, a gesture that sent shivers down Ronald's spine.

"Brendan, please don't send me away. I'll be your spy and find out Naomi's true feelings for you," Ronald continued, forcing a calm smile.

Brendan smiled at Ronald's offer to spy.

The next day, Ronald went to Naomi's law firm to fulfill his duty. Naomi was working late alone, organizing documents when Ronald pulled up a chair and sat beside her.

Leaning closer, he whispered, "Hey Naomi, what are your feelings toward Brendan? What's your plan?"

"He's the boss. What else can I do?" Naomi replied, aware of his motives.

"Oh, come on! Don't be so vague! Tell me the truth so I can prepare," Ronald exclaimed.

"You're not my husband. What do you need to prepare?" Naomi said, flipping through her files. "Whatever Brendan's thinking, just say it. I can handle it."

Hearing this, Ronald rolled up his sleeves and blustered, "That Brendan, he's gone too far! Last night, I scolded him for caring too much about Chloe and even sending her home. But he didn't care! He not only ignored his own faults, he glared at me as if he wanted to kill me!"

"To be honest, I think Brendan wants a divorce. If I can't get you to agree, he won't let me off."

Ronald continued without pause, "He's not even the best man. Just let him go! You can get more alimony afterward. Don't take those fortune tellers seriously; they're scammers. Besides, we've all known each other for twenty years or more—we know our worth. Worst case, I'll be your son."

Naomi replied calmly, "No thanks. I don't want you as my son, even if you paid me."

"So? What do you think? Will you keep living with Brendan?"

"Tell him that if the divorce agreement is ready, I'll sign it anytime," Naomi answered expressionlessly, typing on her keyboard. Ronald exclaimed, "That's my Naomi! There's plenty of fish in the sea. Don't worry, I'll get you the best possible settlement from Brendan."

Relieved, Ronald returned to Brendan, whistling a cheerful tune. He sat across from Brendan, legs crossed, and said cockily, "Brendan, Naomi said she'll sign the divorce papers as soon as you prepare them. She's sick of you. If you want to be with that bitch, Chloe Yates, go ahead."

Upon hearing this, Brendan snapped his fountain pen. "What else did she say?"
