Chapter 31
Brendan watched from his seat as the three of them laughed. As he lit a cigarette, Mason announced, "I see everyone's talking in their own small groups. Let's gather around and play some games."
"Maximus, you'd better not make any excuses to skip the games," Mason said, worried that Maximus might refuse.
They played truth-or-dare with bar dice. Since they were a large group, Mason suggested splitting into pairs; the loser in each pair would receive a punishment.
Bailey quickly said, "Naomi, I'll pair up with Isabella. You and Mr. Martin can team up." She did this deliberately. Maximus agreed, "Sure. Are you okay with this, Naomi?"
"Of course!" Naomi replied confidently.
The girl beside Brendan kept looking at Naomi and whispered, "Looks like Mr. Martin really likes Naomi. He can't take his eyes off her." The girl had been staring at Naomi all night, admiring her beauty, but then realized Maximus was also looking at Naomi. He couldn't hide it, despite trying.
Brendan grew angrier. How dare Naomi have fun with another man right in front of him? He stared at her coldly, feeling betrayed. However, he knew he'd be in the wrong to say anything, as Naomi hadn't done anything inappropriate.
Once the pairs were formed, they began throwing the dice. Higher rollers could make lower rollers drink or answer a question.
Bailey, though quiet, was exceptionally good at bar games. She had won multiple times, rolling multiple sixes. She seemed to have a feud with Brendan, repeatedly choosing him to answer a question. Each time, however, he finished his drink before she could ask.
Bailey rolled a high number again and looked at Brendan. Before he could pick up his glass, she said, "Wait a second, Brendan. This is the fourth time I've picked you. Where's the fun if you just drink again?"
The others chimed in: "Yeah, Brendan, give Bailey a chance to know more about you!" "It wouldn't be fun if you only choose to drink, Brendan." "Yeah! Please answer a question, Brendan!"
Brendan, after hearing the uproar, decided not to pick up his glass.
Bailey stared at Brendan and asked, "Brendan, are you a virgin?"
Mason spat out his wine. Brendan had been married for two years. Why would Bailey ask such a stupid question? But everyone else's eyes lit up; they sensed a hidden meaning behind her question.
Brendan stared at Bailey coldly, his face filled with anger. Admitting he was a virgin would imply something was wrong with him. Denying it would indirectly tell Naomi he was unfaithful. He'd never truly let Naomi understand him in the past two years. Bailey's question was incredibly malicious.
