Chapter 58
Seeing this, Naomi sat up in bed and switched on the bedside lamp. Seeing Brendan on the sofa, she sighed in relief, then furrowed her brows. "Why are you still up so late? What's your deal, just sitting there staring at me?"
"Didn't you bring Chloe back? You're just going to leave her like that? Is that how you handle things?"
She yawned, adding disdainfully, "Go back to your room. Don't sit here like a security guard. It's late, and everyone else is trying to sleep."
After Naomi spoke, she started to lie down, but Brendan coldly interrupted, "Naomi, see what happens if you dare to sleep."
Naomi straightened up and glared at him. "Brendan, what do you want? Are you going to let me sleep or not?"
Brendan gritted his teeth. "Can you sleep?" he asked incredulously. After bringing Chloe back, she was snoring soundly; he couldn't believe her audacity.
"I can sleep just fine!" Naomi narrowed her eyes. "Can't you sleep? Haven't you consoled her yet?"
"Brendan," she continued, "you seriously need to work on your temper. Having wealth and power doesn't give you a free pass. Everyone has limits. If you don't go back to Chloe now, she might not want anything to do with you tomorrow. Women are easily pleased. If sweet words don't work, make a move. A passionate night often mends disputes."
Naomi yawned again. "I've given you some advice. You can figure out the rest yourself."
As she reached for the light switch, Brendan grabbed her wrist. He took two steps closer, leaning down. "Naomi, are you giving me tips on how to comfort you?"
Naomi chuckled. "Brendan, you make it sound so formal. Haven't I always been the one comforting you? Okay, enough chit-chat. If you don't go back soon, Chloe will be upset. Not all women are as understanding as I am."
Naomi, eager for sleep, hoped he would leave.
Brendan asked, "You really want us to get along?"
Naomi moved his hand away. "Of course. I'll even arrange the fireworks for your wedding." She lay down.
Brendan felt his world turn upside down. "Naomi, if you dare to sleep, you'll face the consequences."
"Alright! Feel free to set me on fire then!" she retorted, pulling the blanket over herself. She refused further conversation; her days there were ending anyway.
Brendan lightly kicked her. Naomi simply hugged the blanket tighter, not bothering to open her eyes.
"Move over," Brendan said.
Naomi didn't respond.
Frustrated, Brendan undressed and lay beside her, trying to pull up the blanket.
Half-closed eyes, Naomi said, "Aren't you ashamed? Aren't you afraid I'll get horny?"
Brendan replied, "Let's see."
Exhausted, Naomi closed her eyes and snuggled closer. "Brendan, I'll be honest. If you try to steal my blanket or touch me, I'll stick to you like a bandage. You won't get rid of me."
Brendan chuckled and got under the blanket, embracing her from behind.
Naomi was puzzled. Why did he shamelessly approach her whenever she tried to push him away?
When his hand touched her chest, Naomi almost woke up. "That'll cost you a million dollars."
