Chapter 71
When a faint smile froze on her face, Naomi said, “Brendan, given our relationship, you have no right to look at my phone.”
Brendan’s gaze darkened, becoming dangerously like a coiled tiger ready to explode.
After Naomi spoke, Brendan grabbed her arm as she brushed past him, gripping it so tightly that it hurt. His usually mild-mannered face had lost all warmth, replaced by coldness.
Naomi remained nonchalant. “Are you jealous?”
Brendan pulled her arm. She reacted quickly, turning and tossing her phone into the toilet.
“Naomi!” Brendan’s sharp voice cut through the air.
Naomi shrugged. “Now you can’t see it, and neither can I.”
Brendan released her hand, picked up his phone, and dialed Jason. “Jason, please check…”
Before he finished, Naomi grabbed his phone and hung up. “You won’t be able to handle it if Jason finds out. Fine, I’ll admit it. I have someone else.” Her dismissive attitude angered Brendan. He suppressed his anger. “Maximus?”
“That’s right!” Naomi replied. “You declined my offer to assist with the project, so why wouldn’t I consider other options? I can still gain something from it.”
Brendan swallowed hard. His voice was deep. “How far have you gone with him?”
Naomi teased, “Do you really want to know? Why don’t you find out for yourself?”
Brendan gritted his teeth. “Naomi, you’ve crossed the line.”
Naomi chuckled. “Didn’t we agree on this? You do your thing, and I do mine. We don’t interfere.”
Suppressing his anger, Brendan pried Naomi’s fingers from his neck one by one. He held her chin. “Naomi, you’d better be joking. Otherwise, you can forget about the South Glistenville project and any future business with Goodwin Corporation.”
Brendan went to the closet, changed into a suit, and left the house. He had restrained his anger and didn’t mention divorce. The door slammed shut. Naomi smiled briefly, retrieved her phone from the toilet, and then…
Chapter 71
There was nothing going on between her and Ronald. She should have shared the messages with Brendan, but she couldn't stand his aloof and hypocritical attitude. Moreover, his arrogance the previous night had diminished her interest in him. She simply wanted to disgust him.
After drying her phone, Naomi removed the SIM card and asked Jennifer to bring her a new phone. As soon as the SIM card was in place, she saw dozens of messages from Ronald, asking her to meet and questioning her silence. He had also left several voice messages.
Naomi wore an expression of disdain. Just then, she received a call from Ronald. She was speechless.
