Chapter 74

“Henry, what should we do now?”

Holding the project proposal documents, Henry sighed. “Let’s secure the project first and make adjustments during the construction phase,” he said.

The Sabella Group could accept the original proposal or withdraw. However, given Clement’s provocation and Naomi’s actions, Henry was even less inclined to back down. The only option was to secure the project by maintaining the original price and upgrading the materials.

Clement frowned. The South Glistenville project had become extremely contentious.

Back at the Sabella Mansion, Madelyn was furious when Elaine told her what happened. “Why must we take a loss to secure this project? I can’t accept that. I’m going to talk to Naomi.”

She learned Naomi’s location and went directly to her. Naomi had just finished a client meeting when Madelyn confronted her at the coffee shop entrance. “Naomi!”

Seeing Madelyn, Naomi calmly slowed her pace. Observing Naomi’s composure, Madelyn declared arrogantly, “Naomi, I used to think Goodwin Corporation was top-notch, but my brother secured your project effortlessly. It seems your father’s skills, and the Goodwin Corporation itself, are merely average.”

Naomi calmly approached, straightened Madelyn’s collar, and said, “If your father and brother find it so easy, feel free to take it.”

Madelyn was about to lose her temper, but remembering her purpose, she quickly regained her haughty demeanor. “Naomi, the South Glistenville project belongs to my family, and sooner or later, Brendan will be mine, too.”

Naomi smiled. “Well, congratulations in advance.” Leaning close, she whispered, “Madelyn, I wonder how much profit you and your brother will actually see after all your hard work for the company.”

Madelyn’s expression changed. “What do you mean?”

Naomi chuckled softly. “Exactly what I said.”

Chapter 74

Madelyn blocked Naomi’s path. “Naomi, just say what you have to say!”

With a half-smile, Naomi sidestepped Madelyn and walked toward her car. Madelyn followed, but quickly relented when Naomi gave her a cold, intimidating glare. The earlier confrontation had rattled her.

Madelyn’s aggression didn’t faze Naomi. Naomi didn’t lower her bid and submitted the proposal to Dennis. The Sabella family had no choice but to secure the project at the original price, improving the building materials. Considering the years of hard work and billions of dollars lost, Clement and Henry found little joy in their success.

Nevertheless, they celebrated their corporation’s 20th anniversary, using the project win as a centerpiece. Invitations were sent to their social circle, including the Goodwins.

Christine called Naomi upon receiving the invitation. “Naomi, should your father and I attend?”

“Of course! You should go!”

Christine said, “I really don’t want to see Madelyn’s mother. Bailey’s stepmother will probably be there, too. I can’t stand those two.”

Naomi smiled reassuringly. “Mom, just think of it as attending a show. There are sure to be some unexpected twists.”

Christine became wary. “Naomi, what do you mean by… something?”
