Chapter 75
Naomi wasn't a kind person, and Christine had known this since Naomi was a child.
Naomi replied, "I'm not plotting anything. In fact, I almost got taken advantage of."
Her words alarmed Christine. "Naomi, what happened?"
Naomi smiled. "Mom, don't worry about it. Just go with Dad to the event. Otherwise, people will say you're petty."
Christine sighed before agreeing. "Then, I'll go with your dad."
So, on Saturday evening, Christine attended the banquet with Dennis. Naomi, however, hadn't returned to Yellowind Bay since rejecting Brendan a few days earlier. Brendan didn't ask her to the Sabella family's event, so she attended with Bailey.
Naomi wore a black dress, while Bailey, with her short hair, wore a suit. The pair stood together, exuding a commanding presence that drew many guests' gazes.
"Naomi, how dare you show up here? If I were you, I'd find a hole to crawl into," Madelyn said, confronting them upon their arrival.
Holding a handbag, Naomi smirked. "You seem happy about making a bad deal. The Sabella family is indeed something."
Madelyn was about to argue but stopped. "Naomi, you're just envious and bitter. Besides, my brother is smart. He wouldn't have agreed to a bad deal."
Naomi responded, "I've been closely monitoring the South Glistenville project. It won't be easy for the Sabella family to avoid losses."
Madelyn retorted, "We have a dedicated quality inspection department, Naomi. You don't need to keep an eye on us. Don't try to comfort yourself. Do you know how much the Sabella Group's stock has risen since we secured this project?"
"Some things go beyond immediate profits," Naomi replied.
The Sabella family's most gratifying recent development was the soaring stock price, which had brought them many benefits.
Naomi quipped, "Then I hope the Sabella Group's stock continues to rise."
Finally gaining the upper hand, Madelyn felt relieved. However, when her eyes fell on Bailey, she noticed Bailey giving her a cold, intense stare. Madelyn recalled Naomi beating her up and quickly slipped away in fear. Who knew what these two might do in public?

Moreover, her mother had constantly reminded her over the past two days to maintain her composure and not ruin their family's reputation.
As Madelyn hastily left, Bailey stood with her hands in her pockets, smiling sarcastically. If she had the guts, she shouldn't have run away!
Just as Madelyn left, Estelle and Pauline approached. Seeing Bailey in a suit, Pauline scolded her sternly.
"Bailey, do you have any semblance of a proper young lady left in you? You have no shame! Can't you at least consider your father's reputation? Look at the other girls here. Who else has short hair and wears a suit? If you don't care about the Jenkins family's image, can't you at least avoid causing us trouble?"
Bailey's expression darkened. "What I wear is my own concern. It's none of your business."
"You" Pauline's face turned pale with fury.
Estelle pulled her aside. "Mom, she's already dressed like this. Please stop complaining."
Estelle's intervention calmed Pauline slightly.
