Chapter 89

When Brendan heard a man's voice on the phone, he wasn't concerned about Naomi's actions. His sole focus was identifying the man and dealing with him. Ronald's voice became higher-pitched as Brendan questioned him.

"Naomi is such a tough nut that only you would dare to be with her. She's so formidable that I can't even muster any excitement," Ronald said. He lifted his hand, adding, "I'm telling you, I was so scared that I sought refuge with Naomi. I swear on our ancestors and heritage, there's absolutely nothing going on between us."

However, he couldn't guarantee what might happen in the future, as feelings and emotions are unpredictable. Ronald had completely betrayed Naomi, even calling her a "tough nut" and implying he found her intimidating, leaving Naomi visibly displeased.

She kicked him several times, exclaiming, "Ronald, you ungrateful scoundrel! How can you say that?"

Brendan, however, wanted no more of this. He turned to Naomi and coldly asked, "Do you want him to get excited for you?"

Naomi, frustrated, angrily replied, "Do whatever you want with him."

"Naomi, we're on the same team. Why are you kicking me?" Ronald dodged Naomi's kicks and looked at Brendan. "Brendan, there really is nothing going on between me and Naomi. Besides, if there was, it wouldn't concern you. We would have already been together."

At the entrance, Jason wore a sympathetic expression. Perhaps Ronald had no plans to remain in Ashburgh for the rest of his life.

Hearing this, Brendan gave him a cold glance. Ronald slapped himself twice. "I speak too much nonsense. Brendan, please don't assign me back to building Hope Elementary School. That place is unbearable."

Brendan asked, "Mason seems to be perfectly fine with that place."

"Mason has already returned," Ronald replied.

Brendan raised his head, and Ronald realized he'd misspoken. He hurriedly explained, "I mean, Mason isn't an ordinary person; he's immortal. Our statuses are different."

Brendan chuckled and looked at Jason, who immediately made a phone call to investigate. Afterward, he looked at Ronald sympathetically and said, "Mr. Ronald, I'm afraid no one can help you this time. You've betrayed everyone."

Ronald was speechless. He looked at Brendan with an innocent expression. Brendan coldly remarked, "Do you want to become immortal like Mason?"

"Brendan, I have a big mouth. I saw you bring Chloe to the banquet and just wanted to help Naomi vent her anger," Ronald explained.

Brendan instructed, "Jason, take Mr. Ronald for a 'nice bath' and let him feel what it's like to be an immortal."

Ronald was shocked. "Brendan, what do you mean by that? I'm still a virgin!"

Jason replied, "Mr. Ronald, please follow me."

Ronald protested, "Brendan…"

Jason took Ronald away.

Meanwhile, Naomi yawned and said, "Mr. Ludwig, now that everything's been cleared up, you should leave too."

Pulling her into his arms, Brendan said, "Naomi, you hid another man from me. Do you think I'll let you off the hook that easily?"

Naomi disagreed, poking his chest. "Why don't you ask yourself if Ronald can be considered a man?"

Brendan was somewhat taken aback. The two stared at each other, then Brendan said, "Let's forget about Ronald. Let's settle the score for tonight."

With a playful smile, Naomi asked, "Are we settling the score for you bringing another woman to the banquet?"

Ignoring her, Brendan stood up. "I'm going to take a shower and go to bed."

Naomi refused to back down. She grabbed his arm. "Wait! We haven't settled our accounts yet. Aren't you going to settle the score for me saying I don't know you?"

Brendan continued to ignore her, rubbing his temples. "Naomi, just leave it."

Naomi retorted, "Don't you know me at all? I can't—" (The passage cuts off here)
