Chapter 1172:
Elyse was confused. โBut I need to cook tomorrow, donโt I?โ
Garret replied, โIโll be cooking.โ
Elyse was taken aback. โYou can cook?โ
Garret nodded. โI didnโt think so at first, but since meeting you, Iโve realized my cooking isnโt too bad.โ
Elyse gave a dry chuckle and ended their conversation.
After dinner, Elyse offered to clean up and went to the kitchen to wash the dishes. Garret returned to his study, while Louise quietly went to the kitchen to talk to Elyse.
Seeing Louise, Elyse felt a headache coming on. She sensed Louise wanted to talk about Garret again. Louise, chewing on an apple, kept eyeing Elyse. Unable to bear it any longer, Elyse broke the silence. โJust say what you need to say.โ
Louise paused, then asked, โSince Garret is going to start cooking, what are your thoughts on him now?โ The question overwhelmed Elyse.
After a brief silence, she answered honestly, โI think itโs wonderful. At least I wonโt be stuck eating my cooking every day.โ
Louise looked unhappy, frowning as she insisted, โThatโs not the answer I was looking for. Take it seriously. Think about it and then respond.โ
Elyse was frustrated. โWhy not just tell me what you want to hear, and Iโll say it?โ
Louise sneered, โIโm not that type of person. Stop avoiding the question and answer it.โ
โAlright, let me think about it.โ Elyse finished washing the dishes, dried her hands, and turned to ask, โWhy are you behaving so strangely today, bombarding me with questions about Garret? It makes me wonder if youโre the one interested in him.โ
Elyse hoped this would deter Louise. It was a difficult question to answer. But to her astonishment, Louise didnโt deny it. She confessed openly.
โYouโre right, I do have feelings for him, but itโs not allowed. And I donโt want anyone to notice.โ
Elyse was shocked, pointing at herself in disbelief. โIโve figured it out. You have feelings for Garret. Youโฆ Youโre not planning on doing anything to me, are you?โ Elyseโs voice trembled.
Louise rolled her eyes. โEven if you tell others about me and Garret, do you have any proof? With just a snap of my fingers, I could make you disappear completely. So Iโm not worried about any tricks you might pull.โ
Elyse smiled faintly. โIโd rather not know any of your secrets. If possible, Iโd prefer to remain unaware.โ
โNo chance. As my friend, you have to share my burdens,โ Louise said sternly.
โBurdens? How stressed can you be?โ Elyse asked, puzzled. . . .
