Chapter 1272:

Pearceโ€™s smirk was sharp, his eyes glinting with a challenge his smile failed to mask. โ€œYour audacity knows no bounds, does it?โ€

Aware that Jayden wouldnโ€™t be easily cowed, Pearce reluctantly accepted the situation, his mind already plotting ways to undermine his rival at the earliest opportunity. After navigating the airportโ€™s bustling environment, they proceeded directly to a nearby restaurant. Inside, Pearce led them to a private dining area; his prior arrangements were evident in the elaborate spread of exquisite dishes awaiting themโ€”prepared to impress, yet orchestrated with precision.

Upon seeing her favorite dishes, Elyseโ€™s eyes sparkled with delight. โ€œOh my gosh, Iโ€™ve missed these so much! I havenโ€™t had a chance to indulge like this in weeks.โ€ She eagerly seized her fork and knife, savoring the first bite with evident joy.

Pearce, resting his cheek against his palm, watched her with a tender smile, his heart brimming with fulfillment. โ€œThereโ€™s no hurry, Elyse. Take your time and enjoy. If you want more of anything, let me know.โ€

His words were barely out when he spotted Jayden reaching for utensils. Annoyance flared, and Pearce slammed his palm on the tabletop, a sharp sound echoing through the air. โ€œHold it right there! This isnโ€™t for you. Get your own.โ€

Unruffled, Jayden met Pearceโ€™s stern look. โ€œIโ€™m just as hungry. Why canโ€™t I join in?โ€

โ€œFuck off! Go eat dirt!โ€ Pearceโ€™s voice rose, a surge of anger driven by memories of Jaydenโ€™s mistreatment of Elyse. If it were up to him, Jayden would deeply regret his past actions.

To calm the brewing storm, Elyse interjected gently, โ€œLetโ€™s not spoil the meal, Pearce. Ignore him and letโ€™s focus on this feast. Itโ€™s absolutely delicious.โ€

Persuaded by her soothing words, Pearce relaxed, his irritation giving way to amusement, and he resumed his meal.

With the conflict defused, Elyseโ€™s enjoyment deepened. Once they finished, Pearce, now contemplative, inquired softly, โ€œSo, now that youโ€™re here, are you thinking of staying with your family for a while?โ€

โ€œYeah, Iโ€™d be glad to stay at your place for a bit,โ€ Elyse said with a relaxed smile.

Pearce felt he hadnโ€™t been clear. โ€œNot my place,โ€ he corrected quickly. โ€œThe Benson Mansion.โ€ . . .
