Chapter 1273:
Pearce seemed unsure, scratching his head awkwardly. โWell, see, Grandmaโs been missing you and asked if youโd stay with her.โ
Elyse looked puzzled. โGrandma misses me? Are you kidding? Weโre not exactly close.โ She remembered Felicia had never really cared for her, never treating her like a granddaughter. The idea that Felicia might miss her seemed unlikely.
Pearce exhaled. โI know you donโt believe me, but itโs true. She misses you.โ
Elyse opened her mouth to speak, but paused, her eyes shifting towards Jayden. Jayden, who knew little about Elyseโs relationship with Felicia but had done some digging, had found that Felicia didnโt really care for Elyse. Catching her silent appeal, he said, โLetโs not rush into this. Elyse is hesitant. We can talk about this later.โ
Elyse took her chance. โI agree,โ she responded with a nod. โPearce, please donโt push me. Iโm not ready to face her yet.โ
Pearce noticed Elyseโs discomfort about Felicia and decided it was best to respect her feelings. โDrop the subject.โ He knew her relationship with Felicia was tense, but he wasnโt about to let that strain his connection with her.
โNow that youโve won as the champion overseas, many people are eager to meet you,โ Pearce said. โWould it be alright to throw a celebration in your honor and introduce you to some of them?โ
Elyse thought for a moment and then nodded. โAlright, Iโll trouble you with that then.โ
โHappy to help,โ Pearce replied, pulling out his phone to start arranging the event.
โActually,โ Jayden said, โIโve also received a few work-related inquiries for you. Iโve hired an agent to handle your upcoming interviews and promotional activities.โ
Elyseโs eyes widened in surprise. โAre there really that many people looking for me?โ
โQuite a few, actually,โ Jayden confirmed. โIโll let you discuss the details with your agent. Itโs not really my area.โ With that, he handed Elyse the agentโs business card.
Elyse quickly texted the agent and, after exchanging formalities, they delved into discussing various work opportunities. Elyse was overwhelmed by the number of offers that had come in. It was clear that her popularity was soaring, along with her workload. . . .
