Chapter 1301:

Elyseโ€™s smile was small but chilling. โ€œWhat do I want? I want to settle the score with you, Owens.โ€ Her voice was smooth, her words dripping with venom. โ€œYou claim Iโ€™m just an outsider. Fine. Letโ€™s talk about how your grandfather was responsible for the death of my child.โ€

Deboraโ€™s eyes flickered with guilt. โ€œWhat does that have to do with me? I didnโ€™t kill your child. Find the real culprit.โ€

Elyse arched a brow in amused disbelief. โ€œSo, youโ€™re saying you have no problem with me taking revenge on your grandfather?โ€

Debora scoffed, rolling her eyes. โ€œGo ahead. If youโ€™re brave enough, go and take your revenge on him. But guess what? Heโ€™s dead. Youโ€™ll never have the chance to make him pay.โ€

Elyseโ€™s smile turned malicious as she crossed her arms, tilting her head slightly. โ€œHow could I possibly not have a chance?โ€ she said, her voice soft yet laced with danger. โ€œBecause, you see, Iโ€™m the one who killed him.โ€

Debora froze, her pulse racing as the weight of Elyseโ€™s words sank in. โ€œNoโ€ฆ that canโ€™t be true. He was killed by Jayden. Corrie told me so. She wouldnโ€™t lie to me!โ€

Elyseโ€™s lips curled into a wry smile. โ€œWhy wouldnโ€™t she lie to you? You really believe everything she says?โ€ She stepped closer, her voice colder than ever, each word cutting deeper. โ€œIf you donโ€™t believe me, let me paint a picture for you. Your grandfather, terrified yet defiant, begged me not to pull the trigger. But I didnโ€™t care. I shot him anyway.โ€

Elyseโ€™s piercing gaze locked onto Deboraโ€™s, her next words hanging in the air like a dark cloud. โ€œDo you know what it feels like to kill your enemy with your own hands? Itโ€™s like being reborn.โ€

Debora shook her head violently, her voice trembling. โ€œImpossible! He couldnโ€™t have been killed by you. Jayden must have forced you to say this!โ€

Her denial rang hollow, more for her own reassurance than anything else. Elyseโ€”the quiet, delicate woman she once knewโ€”couldnโ€™t possibly have had the strength to take a life. This had to be some twisted game, a trick meant to rattle her.

Debora fixed Jayden with a scornful glare, disbelief etched across her face. โ€œI can hardly believe youโ€™d stoop so low as to let Elyse cover for your heinous crime. You truly are monstrous.โ€

Jaydenโ€™s face tightened, his annoyance clear. โ€œCan you drop it already?โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re a ruthless killer! Iโ€™ll make sure the media hears about this. Thereโ€™s no escaping the consequences for Grandpaโ€™s murder!โ€ Deboraโ€™s conviction was unwavering. In her eyes, Jayden was the mastermind behind Enzoโ€™s murder abroad, using Elyse as a naive shield, just as he often had.

โ€œPlanning to go public?โ€ Elyse sneered, dismissing Debora with a cold glance. โ€œIs that really your plan?โ€

Debora clenched her jaw. โ€œWhatโ€™s that supposed to mean? This is not your concern anymore. Youโ€™re no longer part of this family! If you meddle, Iโ€™ll expose your complicity in harboring a murderer by tomorrow. Think about your career; you wonโ€™t be playing the violin much longer, not on my watch.โ€

Elyseโ€™s expression hardened, her eyes narrowing in a rare display of menace. Her presence tonight radiated something entirely differentโ€”something that made Debora uneasy.
