Chapter 1302:
Jayden remained silent, his anxious gaze fixed on Elyse, ignoring Deboraโs accusations. His behavior puzzled Debora. Why wasn't he defending himself? Why was he so focused on Elyse?
Elyse broke the silence, quickly calling Pearce and curtly instructing him to come immediately. Ending the call, she smiled sinisterly at Debora, her demeanor undisturbed.
โCould you give us a moment? My cousin will be here shortly to clear things up,โ Elyse said calmly.
Debora hesitated, confused. She suspected Elyse wasn't the culprit, but wondered why this cousin's arrival was necessary. Was Elyse worried about jeopardizing her career? The more Debora thought about it, the more certain she became of her theory.
Ignoring Elyse, she turned to Jayden, her gaze cold. โStop pretending nothing happened. Youโre coming with me now to face justice for your crimes.โ
Jaydenโs scornful expression didnโt waver. โYouโre delusional. Leave now, and stop causing a scene.โ
Deboraโs anger exploded. โHow can you live with yourself after killing Grandpa, Jayden? You disgust me.โ
Elyse observed coldly, her voice laced with mockery. โQuite curious, isnโt it? Enzoโs dead, and yet, out of the entire Owen clan, only you seem driven to seek justice. Where is everyone else?โ
Stunned, Debora retorted, โWhat are you implying?โ
Elyseโs reply was candid. โFace it, everyone was likely relieved by Enzoโs death. If they truly sought justice, the media would have swarmed Jayden the moment he landed. But your familyโs silence speaks volumes.โ
Debora faltered. Elyseโs words resonated. Her familyโs inaction, despite her protests, was glaringly evident. She had undertaken this visit alone, telling no one.
Moments later, Pearce arrived. Expecting trouble, he found Debora and a somber Elyse, the tension palpable.
Perplexed, Pearce asked, โWhatโs happened here?โ
Elyse pointed at Debora. โCould you handle her for me? Sheโs threatening to make Enzoโs murder public and could ruin everything for me.โ
Caught off guard, Pearce paused before stepping protectively in front of Elyse. He knew about Elyseโs revenge for her lost child and had been investigating the Owen family, preparing for retaliation.
With his usual calm demeanor, Pearce produced cigarettes and casually asked, โDid your family send you, or are you acting on your own?โ
Debora, unprepared for this confrontation, had come for Jayden, only to find herself in a far more complicated situation. Even Debora, usually thorough, was starting to understand. Could Elyse be the true culprit behind Enzoโs murder, not Jayden?
