Chapter 1303:

As the realization dawned, Elyse spoke, her voice cold. โ€œDebora, are you still planning to contact the media?โ€

Feeling increasingly cornered by Elyse and Pearceโ€™s intense scrutiny, Debora instinctively stepped back, her voice wavering. โ€œWhat do you mean?โ€

Pearceโ€™s response was blunt. โ€œIf you disclose this, weโ€™ll be forced to respond accordingly.โ€

Debora stared at Elyse, shock lacing her voice. โ€œAre you seriously saying you didnโ€™t deceive me? You murdered my grandfather?โ€

Elyse shook her head, her expression resolute. โ€œMurder? He was responsible for my childโ€™s death. My actions were retribution.โ€

Deboraโ€™s tone sharpened, disbelief mixing with anger. โ€œYou took his life for an unborn child?โ€

Without warning, Elyse slapped Debora across the face, her eyes blazing. The slap landed hard, leaving Deboraโ€™s cheek red and swollen, the imprint of Elyseโ€™s hand clearly visible.

Staggering back, Debora pressed her hand to her stinging cheek, her voice trembling. โ€œHow could you hit me?โ€

Elyse, her hand still raised, shot back, โ€œShouldnโ€™t I? You think youโ€™re above reproach?โ€ Her eyes narrowed. โ€œSay another word against my child, and it will be your last.โ€

It had been a long time since Debora last saw Elyse, and she remembered her as soft and yielding. She hadnโ€™t realized the extent of Elyseโ€™s transformationโ€”this new Elyse was unrecognizable, fiercer than sheโ€™d ever imagined.

Jayden, who had been silently watching, intervened. โ€œStop this, Debora. This is beyond you. Let your parents pursue justice. They probably donโ€™t even know youโ€™re here, right?โ€

Humiliation and anger flashed in Deboraโ€™s eyes as she clenched her jaw, unwilling to show weakness.

Elyse interrupted with a sharp, probing look. โ€œJayden, are you trying to send her away because you think Iโ€™ll harm her?โ€

Jayden was acutely aware of Elyseโ€™s volatility regarding her child. Although she stood quietly now, he sensed her internal agony. He knew her deeply, especially her profound connection to her lost child, which had driven a deep wedge between themโ€”a gap he had been tirelessly trying to bridge.

Before Jayden could respond, Debora interjected fiercely, โ€œI donโ€™t need his protection. Now I understand you orchestrated my grandfatherโ€™s death! You monster, I wonโ€™t let this go.โ€

As Debora turned to storm out, Driscoll and the household staff blocked her exit.

โ€œWhat is this? How dare you block my way? Donโ€™t you recognize who I am?โ€ Debora demanded.

Jayden exhaled wearily. โ€œThey know exactly who you are. But they canโ€™t let you leave if you intend to harm Elyse.โ€
