Chapter 131:

Jayden frowned. "Me chatting happily with her? Who? You're the one who strolled off with another man," he gritted his teeth. "I haven't settled accounts with you yet. You really enjoy stirring up trouble, don't you?"

Elyse was even more upset. "Starting trouble? Ridiculous! He was dining happily with another woman. He even let Judy use her utensils!" The thought reignited her fury. "I don't want to see your face. We're sleeping separately tonight."

Up ahead, the driver shuddered. Was their fight so bad they'd sleep in separate rooms? He needed to report this to Driscoll immediately and request backup.

Jayden seethed. He hadn't expected this level of anger, and he had no idea why. He reviewed his day, finding nothing unusualโ€”nothing to warrant this outburst. Clicking his tongue in frustration, he asked, "What exactly is happening? What did I do wrong? Explain clearly."

Elyse pressed her palm to her forehead and sighed. She didn't want to discuss it. She'd never felt secure with Theo, and Jayden's actions echoed that past insecurity. She just wanted to sleep until the end of the world.

She remained silent for the rest of the drive, ignoring Jayden's attempts to speak. As soon as they arrived home, she went upstairs. Jayden scowled, now furious as well.

Noticing the tension, Driscoll cautiously approached Jayden. "What's wrong with Elyse? I thought you picked her up. Why is she upset?"

"How should I know?" Jayden snapped. "She's acting like a mute. I've asked repeatedly, but she won't even look at me."

"Alas," Driscoll sighed. "I suspect it's because you let Judy use her personal tableware."

Jayden frowned in bewilderment. "What personal tableware? I've never heard of such a thing."

The butler explained, sounding helpless, "When she married you, she preferred her privacy. I had two matching sets made. She was thrilled, saying she finally felt like part of the household."

Driscoll cleared his throat, embarrassed. "But earlier, you let Judy use her tableware and sit in her usual place. She felt you were inconsiderate, perhaps even that you've developed feelings for Judy."

Jayden inhaled sharply. "Why didn't you tell me? I had no idea it was her tableware."

"They're customized, Mr. Owen," Driscoll defended. "Didn't you notice the change?"

Jayden fell silent. He had noticed, but hadn't thought much of it. He took a deep breath and stroked his wristwatch. "You're saying she misunderstood because I didn't stop Judy? You're saying she's jealous?" His eyes lit up.

Driscoll closed his eyes and nodded helplessly. "Don't celebrate yet. She's very upset. Reassure her. And to appease her, you'll need to send Judy away."

Jayden pondered. "Sounds like she is jealous of Judy. It's late. You should go to bed, Driscoll."

He wheeled himself to the elevator and went to the second floor.

Driscoll watched him go with another sigh. The young couple had a long way to go.

Upstairs, Elyse, having finished showering and applying skincare, frowned when Jayden entered. "What are you doing here? I'm not sleeping with you."

Jayden stared at her. She was definitely jealous. "This is my room, too," he drawled, approaching the bed. "Why can't I sleep here?"

Elyse scoffed. "Sleep in your study and leave me alone."

"No, I want to sleep with my wife." . . .
