Elyse, skepticism etched on her features, challenged, “We’ve kept Shaun’s accident secret. How did you learn this? Are you responsible? Or have you been following him?”
Dolores assumed a haughty pose, arms crossed, chin lifted. “Your suspicions are tiresome. Shaun’s assistant informed me immediately. I drove through the night from another city.”
Jayden nodded. “Indeed, I instructed Shaun’s assistant to keep me updated.”
Dolores arched an eyebrow. “See? He confirms it. Your suspicions are unfounded.”
Elyse scoffed. “Smug, aren’t you? If you care about Shaun, find the real culprit instead of making accusations.”
Her gaze intensified. “And you, Dolores, I believe you’re behind Tracy’s death. I’ll expose your misdeeds and see you in jail.”
Dolores tilted her head, amusement in her eyes. “What has her death to do with me? Are you insane?”
Before Elyse could respond, Jayden boomed, “Enough! Leave now!”
Unperturbed, Dolores looked at Jayden dismissively. His threats meant little; the Owens were in turmoil, and he’d long severed ties with them. She retorted, rolling her eyes, “Leave because you say so? You’re the one unraveling.”
“Really?” As Jayden’s words echoed, four black-clad bodyguards entered. Two stood by the door, the other two approached Dolores.
Dolores retreated. “What are you doing? Don’t manhandle me!”
Jayden’s irritation was palpable. “Escort her out. This room is off-limits to non-staff.”
“Yes, sir,” the bodyguards replied in unison.
Before Dolores could respond, she was grasped and escorted out.
Seething, Dolores accused, “What right do you have to throw me out? You’re probably the one harming Shaun!”
Elyse, hearing this, exclaimed, “Didn’t she study abroad for years? How can she be so illogical?”
Jayden chuckled softly. “Perhaps her family’s wealth, not her abilities, secured her admission.”
Elyse recalled a conversation, her tone uncertain. “But Tracy said Dolores was intelligent.”
Jayden scoffed. “That was Tracy’s opinion. Truly gifted students don’t act like Dolores.”
