Chapter 1362:
Jaydenโs expression darkened as she grabbed his arm. Irritated, he shoved her hand away. โDonโt touch me. I donโt like it.โ
Velma staggered back, shocked by his indifference. โIf my son doesnโt recover, Iโll sue you!โ
โEnough!โ Hanley barked, pulling his wife back. Turning to Jayden, he asked gravely, โWhat happened to my son?โ
Jayden sighed and replied, โHe lost his memory. His car was sabotaged, and it took the doctors hours to save him.โ The mention of sabotage made Hanleyโs jaw tighten. As a prominent businessman, he had his share of enemies, but he hadnโt expected anyone to go this far.
Shaun remained detached, lying quietly on the bed. Eventually, he turned to Jayden and asked, โAre they my parents?โ
Jayden glanced at him and nodded.
Shaun furrowed his brows. โI donโt feel like they are. Sheโs been talking a lot about my past, but I donโt feel any love from her.โ
Velmaโs eyes widened in disbelief. โWhat did you say? How could you not feel my love? Iโm your mother! Iโve done everything for you!โ
Shaunโs gaze was calm, almost cold. โYou always claim to love me, but you never encourage me. Whenever I do something, youโre never happy for me. You act like Iโm wasting my time. Is that love?โ
Velmaโs face turned pale. โIโve been hard on you because itโs your responsibility to carry on the family legacy! Without discipline, how could you be qualified to take over the company?โ
Shaun shook his head, his voice firm. โYou may be a strict mother, but that shouldnโt mean you canโt love your son. All I feel is pressure. You treat me like a robot programmed to prioritize the family above everything else.โ
Jayden, standing silently by the side, glanced at Shaun. He, too, had once been treated like a robot. He could understand Shaunโs feelings.
Shaun glanced at his mother, who was crying uncontrollably, his face etched with disgust. โWhy all the tears? Iโm still here, not dead. Why such sorrow?โ
After a brief pause, he continued bluntly, โReally, should I be the one crying? Youโve suffocated me with your so-called love, pushing me into things I hate. Iโm the truly pitiful one. What reason do you have to cry?โ
โYou ungrateful brat!โ Hanley snapped, unable to hold back any longer, and punched Shaun in the face.
Shaun absorbed the blow and lay on the bed, taking a long while before he looked up again, his gaze distant. โI had almost forgotten about you. As my father, do you love me?โ
โOf course I love you. Iโm your father. How could I not?โ Hanley said bluntly.
