Chapter 1363:
Rubbing his swollen cheek gently, Shaun sneered. โYet, you were conspicuously absent from her narrations. Youโve never shown me care or concern since childhood. You claim you love me? Ridiculous.โ
Hanley, seething, shouted, โHow dare you speak to me like that! Youโre in desperate need of a lesson!โ He raised his hand to hit Shaun again, but Velma held him back.
She pleaded, โDonโt hit him! Heโs suffering from memory loss. He doesnโt remember us.โ
Hanley sneered. โMemory loss? I believe heโs pretending, using it as an excuse to attack us! Look, Shaun, whether you have amnesia or not, I remain your father. Youโre still under my control.โ
Shaun scowled. โThat sounds more tyrannical than fatherly. Am I merely a slave to you? Do you truly see me as your son?โ
Hanley was about to explode again, but Velma intervened.
She pleaded, โShaun, please, stop this. Donโt provoke your dad further! Just apologize, and letโs move past this.โ
Confused, Shaun said, โWhy should I apologize? I havenโt even confirmed youโre my parents. What if youโre impostors, scheming to benefit from me in your old age? Iโve lost my memory, not my sense. Donโt try to deceive me.โ
Velma, utterly taken aback, fainted.
Hanley swiftly caught her, muttered a few more curses about Shaun, and hurriedly took her to find a doctor. The room fell silent, leaving only Shaun and Jayden. Jayden studied Shaun intently, catching every nuance of his expression.
It had slipped his mind that Shaun might be pretending to have amnesia, a suspicion reignited by Hanleyโs comments. Oblivious to Jaydenโs scrutiny, Shaun scratched his head, yawned, and casually asked, โCould you ensure no more odd visitors? Iโd prefer not to have strangers in my room.โ
Jayden drew nearer, settling into the chair beside the bed. โDo you genuinely feel nothing for them? They are your parents, after all. Shouldnโt even amnesia spare some affection for them?โ
Shaun leaned against a cushion and paused before responding, โYou make a valid point, yet I feel absolutely nothing. What that woman expressed didnโt resonate with love to me. She claimed her love, but it lacked sincerity. To her, itโs not about who her son is; she loves any son who brings the family honor.โ
Jayden commented, โYour perspective is surprisingly lucid. Are you sure you have amnesia, or might you be using it to avenge yourself?โ
Frustrated, Shaun said, โHow could I possibly fake amnesia? Look at the bruises I got from being hit.โ
He then showed Jayden his swollen, bruised face.
Jayden grimaced, pulling back slightly. โKeep your distance.โ While speaking, Jaydenโs attention was caught by bruises on the back of Shaunโs hand. . . .
