Chapter 526:
The nurse handed Morgan the examination report, saying, "Here's your report. Please take a look."
Morgan removed her hospital gown and glanced at the report with displeasure. Her voice raspy, she said, "I understand, but I really don't want to stay here. I want to go home."
The nurse explained, "The doctor believes the blood clot in your brain is likely related to an old injury. It's still pressing on your brain and hasn't dissolved. Treatment now is ideal; otherwise, it could affect your vision."
Morgan pressed a hand to her head, a buzzing sound filling her ears. She felt something was wrong, but the thought of staying in the hospital was unbearable. It felt as though the hospital held fears she wasn't ready to confront. She needed to leave; then, whatever frightened her wouldn't hurt her. Her distress intensified her desire to go home. She'd barely walked a few steps when she almost collapsed, but she caught herself and continued.
After a few more steps, she realized she was going the wrong way. She turned and headed toward the main entrance.
Blending into the crowd, Lanny finally saw Morgan's face clearly. His eyes widened in shock. He clenched his fists, trying to calm his nerves. So many years! He had finally found Janet!
He'd been desperate to find her, haunted by dreams. She had vanished over twenty years ago without a trace. He'd even kept a close watch on her mother, Dorothy, but to no avail. His persistence had finally paid off.
Unaware she was being watched, Morgan walked a few more steps before her vision blurred. The nurse quickly called for help and escorted Morgan back to her ward.
Lanny discreetly followed and stopped at the ward entrance. He saw Jayden's bodyguards seemingly involved in Morgan's care.
"Damn it! Why is Jayden involved? Is he really that kind? Why would he help just anyone?" Lanny muttered angrily. He paced outside the ward, noticing that Janet's name was now Morgan. Before he could think further, Jayden's bodyguards spotted and chased him away.
Dejected, Lanny returned to his car to plan his next move. With Janet back, Dorothy was useless. Only Janet possessed evidence of his crime from over two decades ago; Dorothy only knew about the murder.
After brief consideration, Lanny decided Janet must be eliminated. Dorothy, frail and old, posed no threat. He speculated that Janet had amnesia; otherwise, why the name change?
Since Janet didn't want to stay in the hospital, he figured she'd leave when she woke up. He would run her over when she left the hospital.
He was determined to kill her. He wouldn't give her a chance to survive, Lanny thought viciously.
Two hours later, as the sun set, Lanny waited. Finally, his target emerged from the hospital.
Morgan came out, unaware of the danger. She rubbed her throbbing head, sensing a flicker of recovery. A surge of memories flooded her.
