Chapter 527:

Lanny gripped the steering wheel, his teeth clenched, as he drove toward Morgan without hesitation. After more than twenty years, his obsession was finally ending today.

Beside him, Morgan felt a buzzing in her head. She glanced at Lanny's twisted expression. His face resembled a demon escaped from hell. Prominent blue veins pulsed on his forehead, a bead of sweat trickling down. His fiery red eyes, aged and cruel, gleamed with a maniacal grin.

This face slowly merged with the one in Morgan's memory. For a moment, she froze, her past memories overlapping with the present. Reality and nightmares blurred.

Around her, the crowd shouted, but Morgan remained oblivious, focused on the man before her—the man she despised, the man she had longed to kill. Her lips trembled as she whispered, "Lanny Lloyd."

A loud boom erupted, followed by screeching tires. The crowd's screams ceased briefly before someone yelled, "Call 911!" Panic ensued as people rushed to the accident.

Outside the hospital, a crowd had gathered. Morgan was jostled, falling and striking her forehead on the ground. After a few seconds, strangers helped her up. In those moments, her sealed memories surged back, overwhelming her.

Regaining her composure, Morgan felt a profound shift. She pushed through the crowd, her steps unsteady. Seeing Dorothy lying in a pool of blood, she gasped, "Mom?"

Dorothy lay contorted, her eyes slowly opening to reveal a fading light. Doctors and nurses rushed to her side, confirming a faint heartbeat. After five minutes of CPR, they wheeled her to the emergency room.

"Mom? Mom? Mom?" Morgan cried, following the medical team, ignoring the blood on her face. She continued calling, but Dorothy didn't respond.

"Mom…" Morgan's voice broke, tears streaming down her face.

Dorothy was swiftly taken into the emergency room. Morgan, left outside, banged on the door, her voice breaking as she cried, "Mom, it's me, Janet. I've returned, and I remember everything. Mom, please don't leave me. I can't bear to lose you."

She never imagined such a reunion after two decades. She sank to her knees, her forehead against the cold door, as if praying or confessing. Tears streamed down her face as she sobbed, "Mom, I'm so sorry. My return was delayed, causing you so much pain."

Half an hour later, Elyse and Jayden arrived. They found Morgan, her face streaked with blood, slumped on her knees, head bowed. Hearing Elyse's voice, she slowly lifted her head, her expression dull.

Noticing Morgan's injuries, Elyse rushed to her side. "You're hurt! Why haven't you treated your wounds?"

Morgan touched Elyse's cheek, her gaze lingering. "You have Rickey's eyes and nose, and your mother Jazmine's lips and ears."

A wistful look crossed her face. "It's no wonder I thought you looked familiar—as if I knew you."

Startled, Elyse looked at Jayden, who was visibly shocked. He asked cautiously, "Have you really regained your memory, Janet?"

Elyse exclaimed, "Really? Your memory's back?"

Morgan smiled faintly. "Yes, but it's too late. Over twenty years have passed, and you've grown up without ever seeing your real parents, mistaking your father's murderers as family."

Silence followed. Elyse responded uncertainly, "My father was murdered? Are you saying Lanny killed him?" She wondered if she'd misheard.

Morgan nodded firmly. "Yes, he killed your father. Lanny is your enemy!"
