Chapter 536:
The members of the Owen clan looked around; Jayden was nowhere to be seen. A curious member asked, "Where is Jayden? Didn't he attend the dinner?"
A man who disliked Jayden sneered, "A cripple like him shouldn't lead the Owen clan. His absence is for the best."
Those who admired Jayden bristled. "Don't be so harsh. Jayden is still one of us. At least, he wouldn't mock his own relatives like you do."
Corrie, standing to the side, rolled her eyes. He was really something, she thought. He had been feigning a limp for a year, successfully deceiving everyone.
She felt fortunate to have accidentally discovered Jayden's secret, a secret that allowed her to bask in Enzo's reflected glory. This thought put her in high spirits.
Enzo, seated and observing the conversation, remained silent as the argument about Jayden continued. He acknowledged Jayden's brilliance, but knew he had to end the conflict.
With a sharp rap of his cane on the floor, Enzo silenced the room. All eyes turned to him, awaiting his announcement.
In a commanding tone, Enzo addressed the gathering: "I recognize Jayden is a divisive figure. From this moment forward, all arguments concerning him are over."
The crowd exchanged uneasy glances, pondering Enzo's implication. Did this mean Jayden would become the next leader?
After a pause, Enzo continued: "Henceforth, Jayden will no longer be part of our Owen clan. We sever all ties with him. His future outside the family is his own to determine."
"What? Are you serious?"
"Sever all ties? Why such a drastic measure? Just because Jayden is disabled?"
"No wonder Jayden didn't attend. He's no longer part of us, but if he's disowned, who will lead after Enzo? Who else among the younger generation is capable?"
Gasps and whispers rippled through the room. Brook, shocked by the revelation, struggled to understand Jayden's expulsion.
"Silence!" Enzo commanded, his eyes fixed on Corrie in the corner. He summoned her, and she eagerly started forward, only to be blocked by Brook.
Knowing Enzo trusted her, Corrie barely contained her excitement. Confronting Brook, she demanded, "What's your motive? Step aside!"
Brook, initially defensive, noticed Corrie's urgency and asked, "Why did my grandfather call your name? Are you involved in this?"
"This doesn't concern you. Get out of my way!" Corrie shoved past Brook and approached Enzo.
Enzo instructed her, "You will explain to everyone why Jayden was expelled."
"It's my privilege," Corrie replied, turning to the assembly with an arrogant smirk. "Jayden deceived us all. His car accident a year ago? A fabrication. He feigned disability."
"What? He feigned disability? But why?"
"He's been faking it for a year? How do you know?"
"Is his pretense of disability the reason Enzo wants to disown him?"
Corrie relished the attention, pausing dramatically before revealing, "It's not just the deception, but the hidden truths he concealed." Her voice resonated through the room. "He didn't want to be part of the Owen Group. Instead, he founded the Bayzee Group, draining the Owen Group's resources and alliances, sabotaging your profits."
A tense silence fell over the crowd as they processed this revelation.
Enzo nodded in agreement. "I offered him opportunities, engaged in countless discussions, hoping for his return to the Owen Group, but to no avail."
