Chapter 580:

Elyse was worried sick and longed to reach Jayden's side. However, she felt too weak and needed Gavin's help to get to his hospital ward.

Upon awakening, Jayden looked remarkably weak and pale. Peyton and Clive sat at opposite ends of his bed, watching him and taking photos with their phones.

Previously, whenever Jayden had been ill or injuredโ€”even when stabbedโ€”he'd appeared unconcerned. He'd spent only two days in a wheelchair before walking around again. This time, however, he was completely immobile and severely impaired.

"Wipe those pictures off your phones, morons!" Jayden said in a weak but irritated voice.

Unaware of Elyse's presence, Peyton stared at his phone and said, in a smug and mocking tone, "You want me to delete these awful pictures? Fine. Come back when you're feeling better. Until then, they're mine."

Clive, agreeing with Peyton, took more pictures.

Jayden gritted his teeth. "Assholes!" he hissed.

Just as Peyton was about to respond, he noticed someone else in the room. Turning, he saw a frail Elyse. He immediately put away his phone and pulled Clive aside, saying, "Stop! Let's give them some space."

As soon as Clive saw Elyse, worry flickered in his eyes.

Clive and Peyton considered telling Jayden about the loss of his baby, but decided against it while he was still unconscious. Now that Elyse was there, they felt it best to leave them alone.

As they were leaving, Peyton bumped into Irving and Gavin, bowing in greeting. Clive watched the ward door anxiously. "Do you think Jayden will go crazy if he finds out about the baby?" he asked.

"He might be upset," Peyton replied, "but not raving mad. Jayden's smart enough to see through Enzo's schemes."

The more he spoke, the less confident he felt.

Meanwhile, in the ward, Elyse slowly approached the bedside. She took a chair and sat beside Jayden. Seeing her slow, deliberate movements, his eyes filled with tears. He reached out and took her hand.

"What happened? Why is your hand so cold?" Jayden asked, his voice hoarse. To Elyse, it sounded reassuring.

Tears welling in her eyes, she looked down and said calmly, "I had surgery. The doctor ordered bed rest. My body needs time to recover."

Jayden was silent for a moment, then asked, "What kind of surgery?"

"An abortion," Elyse replied, a tear tracing a path down her cheek.

Jayden wiped away her tears. He seemed confused. "What kind of surgery?" he asked again.

"A medical abortion," Elyse repeated, her lips trembling, tears streaming down her face and onto the sheets. Trying to control her pain, she said, "Our baby is dead. Corrie and her men forced me into surgery. I couldn't escape. Losing our baby was torture."

The more Elyse spoke, the more grief she felt, and the more she wept. Jayden wanted to comfort her, to tell her they would have another child, that everything would be alright. But he couldn't find the words. Overwhelmed with sadness, he could only hold her close and let her cry.

Elyse's tears felt like burning coals to him. Fighting back his own tears, Jayden refused to succumb to despair. He stared at the ceiling until his eyes ached. Finally, he said, "I assure you, I won't let them get away with this. Those who killed our baby will pay."

Jayden would not forgive anyone involved in his baby's death.
