Chapter 590:
Morgan lacked the courage to enter Elyse's room. Instead, she went to Jayden's. She found him on the bed with a laptop. Closing the door, she approached him, asking disapprovingly, "Why aren't you resting? You're injured. Can't this work wait?"
Jayden glanced at the screen. "Work doesn't interfere with my rest," he replied calmly.
Morgan sighed, pulling up a chair. "I'm worried you're overworking yourself and hurting your injuries."
Jayden remained silent, his thoughts on Enzo. Enzo's failed assassination attempt had made Jayden a thorn in his side. Enzo's actions had angered members of the Owen clan, preventing open attacks, but covert actions were likely. Most of Bayzee Group's projects were overseas; Enzo, unaware of this, was sabotaging local ones. Jayden had to remain vigilant.
Closing his laptop and noticing Morgan's dejected expression, he asked, "Any progress with Lanny's attacks?"
Morgan sighed. "Lanny stopped following me today. I'm scared. I want to put him in prison!"
Jayden clasped his hands. "Don't worry too much. He won't stop trying to kill you. You're his only threat."
Morgan frowned.
"Perhaps an urgent matter called him home," Jayden suggested.
Morgan's expression hardened. Her hatred for Lanny burned fiercely.
Jayden watched her anger. "I suggested killing Lanny and his family quietly. You wanted them to suffer longer. That's why we devised this plan. If you've changed your mind..." he paused, "...we can still do that."
Morgan's fists clenched. Through gritted teeth, she said, "No! They won't get off that easily! They must suffer. How else can I honor Elyse and my mother's suffering? How can I forsake my mother's vendetta?"
Jayden nodded. "Then we must be patient. We can't control Lanny."
Morgan, frustrated, said, "I've maintained this facade for days, and he hasn't moved. I don't understand."
Jayden replied, "Who knows? Lanny and his family are odd. Even I don't understand them."
Meanwhile, Lanny rushed home after a call from Glenda about a possible divorce. He found her on the couch, determined. Mabel stood behind her, eyes blazing with hatred. Lanny dismissed Mabel's anger—the result of him selling her—figuring money would appease her.
He grabbed a beer, took a long gulp, and smirked. "What's this about? Why the sudden divorce?"
Glenda slid a document across. "Here's the divorce agreement. Sign it if you agree."
Lanny laughed, reading the papers. His expression turned cold at the asset division. He grinned menacingly. "You want half, and this apartment?"
Glenda, emboldened, straightened. "I've supported you for years. Why shouldn't I get half?"
Lanny scoffed, flinging the papers at her. "Divorce? Forget it!"
The papers hit Glenda's face, igniting her fury. "Sign them! I can't stand you anymore!"
