Chapter 591:

Lanny grinned menacingly. โ€œYou want a divorce? Fine! But you leave all the property. Don't think about taking a single cent.โ€

Glenda seethed. She was astounded by Lanny's pettiness. After so many years of marriage, he refused to give her anything!

Mabel intervened. โ€œMom has been with you for years. Now that she wants a divorce, canโ€™t you show some kindness?โ€

Lanny looked up, his tone dark. โ€œYou encouraged her to divorce me, didn't you?โ€

Mabel was taken aback. She faltered, then regained her composure. โ€œYouโ€™ve treated her horribly, showing her no care. Sheโ€™s shattered because of you. Why shouldn't she divorce you?โ€

โ€œYou believe that too?โ€ Lanny asked, fixing his gaze on Glenda.

Glenda felt a chill. She opened her mouth to speak, but fear silenced her; she was terrified he might strike her.

Seeing her mother intimidated, Mabel exclaimed furiously, โ€œAre you threatening her? Why are you so unreasonable? Youโ€™re a terrible husband! Youโ€™re not acting like a man!โ€

โ€œNot a man? Iโ€™m your father! If Iโ€™m not a man, how were you born?โ€ He slapped Mabel across the face.

The force of the slap sent Mabel tumbling to the floor, her head hitting the tile. She lay there, unable to get up.

โ€œOh, my God! Youโ€™ve killed my daughter!โ€ Glenda screamed, terrified. She grabbed her phone and called Elyse. While dialing, she shouted, โ€œYouโ€™ve killed my daughter! Iโ€™m telling Elyse to call the police and have you arrested!โ€

Lanny was infuriated. He hadn't anticipated Glenda actually calling Elyse. It was clear she was trying to get him in trouble. She was determined to be rid of him, but he refused to be dismissed.

Enraged, he smashed a beer bottle against Glenda's forehead. The bottle shattered, scattering glass and beer across the floor.

Glenda trembled, went silent, and collapsed. Blood streamed from her forehead, quickly staining the couch red.

Mabel regained consciousness. Feeling a sharp pain, she got up and saw Glenda lying in a pool of blood. Terrified, she screamed and rushed to the couch. Ignoring the glass, she checked Glendaโ€™s breathing. Finding she was still breathing, she urgently said to Lanny, โ€œWhat are you doing just standing there? Call an ambulance! Do you want to watch her die?โ€

Lannyโ€™s chest heaved. After a few seconds, his rage subsided. Witnessing the blood on Glendaโ€™s face, he slowly grasped the severity of his actions.

โ€œYou two want to cut ties with me, donโ€™t you? If youโ€™re both dead, you donโ€™t have to see me again,โ€ Lanny said icily. He turned to leave.

Mabel stared at him, shock widening her eyes. She clutched his clothes and demanded, โ€œHow could you say that? You caused this, yet you just left her to die? Are you even a man?โ€

โ€œIf youโ€™re unhappy, call 911 yourself and take her to the hospital. You pushed her to divorce me, now you can try to save her,โ€ Lanny retorted with a sneer.

Mabel was speechless. Suddenly, she noticed his wallet. Acting on impulse, she reached for it.

Lanny quickly grabbed her hand, shielding his wallet, and slapped her. โ€œHow dare you try to steal my money! I will kill you!โ€

The slap sent Mabel sprawling onto the broken glass, her head spinning.

After Lanny stormed out, Mabel remained seated amidst the broken glass for several minutes before regaining her senses. Seeing the chaos and Glenda still unconscious, she was overwhelmed by despair.

With no other options, she called Kaelyn. At that moment, only Kaelyn seemed capable of helping them. She anxiously waited for Kaelyn to answer. As soon as she heard Kaelynโ€™s voice, Mabel burst into tears and cried, โ€œKaelyn, help me!โ€
