Chapter 657:

Elyse, unfazed by Lowellโ€™s intense stare, scoffed and shot a look at Shaun. โ€œYouโ€™re the only one naive enough to think there might be evidence left. In your desperation, they would have obliterated it all. What could possibly be left for you to find?โ€

Shaun was taken aback. โ€œHow can you be so certain?โ€

โ€œMy intuition,โ€ Elyse said coldly, offering no further explanation. She then walked out of the room.

Jayden flashed a wry smile at Lowell. โ€œMr. Ruiz, letโ€™s hope you truly didnโ€™t leave any traces. Otherwiseโ€ฆโ€ He left his sentence hanging, giving Lowellโ€™s imagination room to ponder the consequences.

Shaun stood in disbelief, turning his gaze back to Lowell. โ€œIs Elyse right? Are you the killer? What really happened between you and Tracy?โ€

Lowell shook his head resolutely. โ€œNo, nothing happened between Tracy and me.โ€

Elyse left Lowellโ€™s office and slipped into the car. Gazing out the window, she broke the silence after a few moments. โ€œDo you know where Tracy was supposed to end her life?โ€

Jayden, who had just shut the car door, paused before nodding. โ€œI do. Do you want to go there?โ€

โ€œYes, I need to see it,โ€ Elyse replied, her face serene as she leaned back and closed her eyes, weariness etched across her features.

Jayden remained silent, instructing the driver to head to their new destination just as Shaun caught up with them.

Shaun quickly opened the back door and asked, โ€œWhere are you guys heading? Iโ€™ll come along.โ€

Jayden glanced at Elyse, who remained silent, and answered, โ€œWeโ€™re going to the cliff where Tracy fell. Do you have the courage to face it?โ€

Shaun was taken aback, pain flickering in his eyes. He still struggled to accept Tracyโ€™s death and feared confronting the place where she had gone missing.

After a long pause, Shaun said hesitantly, โ€œLetโ€™s go. I need to see it myself.โ€

Elyse spoke softly. โ€œIf you canโ€™t handle it, you donโ€™t have to come.โ€

Shaun, his face clouded with sorrow, replied, โ€œNo, I have to.โ€

Elyse didnโ€™t respond further, tightly closing her eyes and retreating into silence.

Liverton was sprawling. Once they left downtown, it took another hour to reach the cliff.

Elyse stepped out of the car, immediately greeted by a fierce gust of wind. She tightened her coat, but the wind still whipped her long hair into a frenzy.

Scanning her surroundings with a stern expression, she walked over to Jayden and declared firmly, โ€œThis isnโ€™t a good spot for a cliff jump.โ€

Jayden raised an eyebrow. โ€œAnd why not?โ€

โ€œThe wind here is too strong,โ€ Elyse explained. โ€œIf I were to take my life, Iโ€™d choose a serene, calm place to end it.โ€

Shaun, shutting the car door with a sigh, said, โ€œAre you just making excuses because you canโ€™t handle Tracyโ€™s death?โ€

Elyse snapped back. โ€œIโ€™m saying she didnโ€™t jump off the cliff voluntarily. She was forced, maybe pushed, just like being thrown into the sea.โ€

Shaun sighed again. โ€œAre you still suspecting Lowell and Dolores? Thereโ€™s no evidence to back that up.โ€

Elyse glared at Shaun, her voice sharp with anger. โ€œYouโ€™re biased towards them, so I never expected you to understand. But Iโ€™m certain those two are behind this. Tracy would never commit suicide by jumping off a cliff.โ€
