Chapter 966:

Edward stood with his arms crossed, leaning against a white wall. He watched Louise for a while before finally asking, โ€œHow long do you intend to keep crying?โ€

Louise looked up in surprise, her face streaked with tears. โ€œWhy are you here? You have someone else now. Iโ€™m irrelevant. Shouldnโ€™t you be comforting her instead?โ€

After a momentโ€™s thought, Edward replied, โ€œYes, I should be comforting Elyse.โ€

This response drained the color from Louiseโ€™s face. Trembling in the chilly breeze, she looked even more delicate. โ€œIf thatโ€™s what you prefer, then go to her. Why are you here? I donโ€™t matter anyway.โ€ Her tears flowed freely as she spoke.

Edward, completely baffled, wondered why Louise was so quick to tears and why she seemed to cry over every little thing. โ€œYou upset Elyse, and I need to bring you back to apologize to her,โ€ he said, hoping that might help soothe Elyseโ€™s feelings a bit.

Louise slammed her foot down and raised her voice. โ€œI refuse to accept this! It shouldnโ€™t be this way. Why should I be the one to apologize and make her happy?โ€

Edward snapped back, โ€œBecause you threw water on her during the cold winter!โ€ His voice was heavy with displeasure and anger. โ€œWhere are your manners? Do your parents know you act this way?โ€

Louiseโ€™s response only fueled her anger further. โ€œNonsense! I am well-mannered.โ€

Edward responded firmly, โ€œFine. Come and apologize to Elyse. When youโ€™re wrong, you need to own up to it.โ€ He reached out to grab her arm, but she sidestepped him.

Louise growled, โ€œShe doesnโ€™t matter. Sheโ€™s my love rival, and I despise her the most!โ€

Edward felt a sharp migraine forming from Louiseโ€™s immature statements. โ€œCan you be more reasonable? What love rival? Stop inventing stories!โ€

โ€œThe one inventing stories is you!โ€ Louise retorted. โ€œEarlier, when you spoke to me, you stopped talking about politics or the violin. Now all you talk about is her. Youโ€™re fond of her. Youโ€™re infatuated with her.โ€

Edward felt irritation rise as she laid bare his hidden feelings. โ€œWho I fancy is none of your concern. Isnโ€™t it normal for someone my age to be interested in a woman?โ€

Louise started crying again. โ€œNo, itโ€™s not alright! Because I have feelings for you, and I hope to be your wife someday.โ€

Edward stood there, his mouth agape and eyes wide with astonishment. Louiseโ€™s candid admission took him by surprise, and he was unprepared for how to react. He quickly dismissed her, saying, โ€œYouโ€™re delusional. My wife? Stop dreaming!โ€ With that, he dashed away, forgetting the initial reason he had come to talk to Louise.

To Louise, Edwardโ€™s departure felt like a definitive rejection. Overcome with heartbreak, she hurried back to her room, sobbing uncontrollably.

After changing into fresh clothes, Elyse left her room, planning to see if cookies were available. Instead, she ran into Louise. Elyse was taken aback by the sight of Louiseโ€™s tear-streaked face. โ€œWhy did you cry so much? Did Edward yell at you?โ€ . . .noveldrama
