Chapter 967:
Louise, humiliated by Elyse witnessing her vulnerability, tried to maintain a tough facade. โItโs none of your concern. Youโre just annoying,โ she snapped.
Noticing Louise still had enough fire to retort, Elyse decided against consoling her and stepped aside.
Feeling even more ashamed, Louise rushed to her room.
Elyse sighed. The instigator of the drama was weeping more than the actual victim, unfairly making it seem like Elyse was at fault. She grimaced and went downstairs to ask the butler about snacks.
The butler replied, โDinner will be served shortly. Would you like a snack in the meantime?โ
โNo, thanks. Iโll wait for dinner,โ Elyse replied, settling in the living room to watch the news. Shortly after, dinner was ready. The butler went upstairs to call Louise, but she didnโt answer.
He returned and informed Elyse, โMiss Miller didnโt answer. Miss Lloyd, please start your dinner.โ
Elyse nodded and began eating.
Once finished, she noticed the butlerโs anxious expression. โIs Louise still not coming down?โ she asked.
โIndeed,โ he replied, his concern evident. โSince sheโs staying temporarily, I need to ensure sheโs well cared for. Otherwise, it could cause problems for the family due to her unique situation.โ
Elyse paused, then offered, โLet me assist you.โ She stood and went upstairs.
The butler, still fretful, followed. โDo you intend to comfort her yourself? Isnโt that a bit much?โ
Elyse shook her head. โNo, itโs okay. Iโm not busy.โ
At Louiseโs door, she knocked three times. โLeave me alone!โ Louiseโs annoyed voice responded.
Without hesitation, Elyse took a spare key from the butler, unlocked the door, accepted the dinner tray, and entered.
Before shutting the door, she said, โPlease give us some space. Trust me. Iโll comfort her.โ The butler hesitated, his lips parting, but ultimately nodded and left.
As Elyse entered, she heard Louiseโs cries. She went further inside, and found Louise in the living room, crying uncontrollably, clutching a teddy bear, her face buried in her arms, unaware of Elyseโs presence.
