Chapter 112

Julian was surprised that Rosalie didn't react. She looked at him as if he were a complete stranger, as if they shared no history. Roseanne, however, practically glowed upon seeing Julian. Her eyes lit up as if she'd just seen her husband.

"Julian, what are you doing here?" she asked, her voice bright with excitement. She'd been waiting days for a response, feeling frustrated and down. But he'd appeared unexpectedly, during her altercation with Rosalie.

She remembered Rosalie's slap, and a dark glimmer crossed her eyes. Hidden from the others, she allowed herself a cold, satisfied smile. She had never been happier to receive a slap.

She glanced at Rosalie with pure malice. Rosalie looked up and met her gaze. Roseanne's confidence faltered slightly as their eyes locked.

Rosalie offered a small, mocking smile, clearly unfazed.

Julian, his expression unreadable, finally spoke. "What's going on here?"

Roseanne quickly intervened, her face shifting from joy to a feigned pout. She wanted Julian to see her as the victim.

"It's no big deal," she said. "I was changing lanes, and this lady didn't give me the right of way. She slammed into me. When I tried to reason with her, she slapped me."

As she spoke, she feigned tears, playing the damsel in distress perfectly. Now, Roseanne pretended not to know Rosalie at all, claiming she'd been abroad for the past three years and had never seen her before.
