Rosalie barely reacted, not even showing a flicker of anger. Instead, she lazily lifted her eyes, almost as if she could predict Rosseanne's next move. For two lifetimes, Rosalie had cared too much about Julian’s opinion. But now, she couldn’t care less. She was quietly unfazed by his predictable behavior. Roseanne, however, wasn’t blind to Rosalie’s calm indifference. Recalling the phone call where Rosalie had been laughing and flirting with another man, a simmering anger built inside him. The fire in his chest had nowhere to go.
His cold, piercing gaze locked onto Rosalie, waiting for her response. She merely replied, “What?”
Jahan’s patience was wearing thin, and he repeated with a sharper edge, “Did you slap her?”
Rosalie couldn’t help but think, Well, so he’s here to protect his ex. She looked at Julian for a moment, then nodded without hesitation. “Yeah, I did.”
Julian was momentarily stunned, clearly caught off guard by Rosalie’s quick admission. Roseanne mused, ‘She didn’t even try to deny it? She must think he’ll let her get away with anything. How naive.’
A smug grin appeared in Roseanne’s eyes. Certain Julian was divorcing Rosalie for her, she felt justified, almost victorious, in enjoying the look of defeat on Rosalie’s face. She didn’t even bother to hide her pride.
