Chapter 116
Listening to Rosanne’s deliberate provocation, Kaleb glanced at her indifferently. He sighed inwardly; Anya was right. If a woman like her became involved with the Galloway family, how could there be any peace? The family already had enough trouble with those unruly men. If Julian married Roseanne, things would become even more chaotic.
But Kaleb knew better than to interfere in Julian’s personal life. All he could do was offer a quick defense of Rosalie after hearing Roseanne’s accusations. “You switched lanes without warning and crashed into her car. You’re fully responsible. She’s done nothing wrong.”
Roseanne’s face froze. She hadn’t expected Kaleb to take Rosalie’s side. She had heard from Matteo that Rosalie had been forced into marrying Julian by Isaac, and that Julian never wanted to marry her in the first place.
She didn’t understand: if Anya cared so much about Julian, how could she stand by someone like Rosalie, whom Julian didn’t even want? And now, Anya’s loyal husband, Kaleb, was siding with Rosalie. She couldn’t help but wonder if Kaleb had feelings for Rosalie.
The thought struck her, and she smirked inwardly. If it weren’t true, it didn’t make sense that Kaleb would defend Rosalie so fiercely. Roseanne also recalled Rosalie’s earlier interactions with Kaleb, the smiles and winks. Now, she was even more convinced they were having an affair.
She felt a flicker of malicious satisfaction. Anya was a hothead. If she found out about Kaleb’s interest in Rosalie, Rosalie wouldn't have an easy time. And as for Roseanne sticking around the Galloway family… forget it.
