Chapter 127
Their car cruised leisurely down the winding country road, and Calliope had guessed the whole ride but still couldnโt figure out what Silas had in store for her.
โItโs not this, itโs not that, not even a helicopter. Could it be fireworks tonight? A drone show?โ
She had exhausted her list of possibilities, everything she thought she liked, yet none seemed to fit.
โYouโll see when we get there,โ Silas chuckled, his smile full of warmth and affection.
โIโm getting a bit impatient now. Youโve piqued my curiosity.โ
Calliope hadnโt initially felt much curiosity or anticipation. After all, sheโd reached a point in life where she lacked for nothing; she could easily acquire whatever she desired.
Moreover, she had three exceptionally doting brothers who took great pleasure in gifting her unique things, wanting her to have the world at her fingertips.
But now, trying not to be curious was a challenge. She genuinely couldnโt fathom what Silas could possibly give her. Gifts usually fell within a predictable range, so what kind of surprise could Silas have gotten her?
Sheโd even considered a grand piano or various musical instruments. Absurdly, even specialized acupuncture needles had crossed her mind. Sheโd thought of everything she could come into contact with, yet nothing seemed right, especially since Fagan mentioned it was something Silas had painstakingly prepared, taking several days to arrange.
โYouโll find out soon,โ Silas assured her with a gentle smile, his demeanor here so different from the fierce persona he projected outside.
Before long, they arrived at the Myers Manor.
Calliope stepped out of the car, and Silas took her hand, guiding her toward the rear garden.
Fagan followed closely behind.
They hadnโt even reached the garden when Calliope heard voices from Damien and the others.
โWhat is this?โ
โItโs a gift from Mr. Myers to Mrs. Myers!โ
โWhat is it? It seems like something alive!โ
โNo idea, but itโs said to be something Mrs. Myers likes. Could it be a pet? But such a large pet seems a bit extravagant.โ
โThis cage is enormous. Whateverโs inside must be bigger than a person.โ
Hearing the chatter, Calliope glanced at Silas. โIs it a horse?โ
She was fond of horseback riding, enjoying the thrill of galloping across the open plains.
โNo,โ Silas shook his head. โWeโre almost there. You can see for yourself.โ
With suspicion and excitement, Calliope walked ahead.
Before her, she saw a gigantic iron cage draped with a large black cloth. Whatever was inside was making some noise, indicating it was indeed alive.
Curious, Calliope grasped the edge of the cloth and gave it a gentle tug.
Then the cloth fell smoothly to the ground.
Inside the colossal cage was an animal, snow-white from head to tail, resembling a wolf and a dog, with a large bushy tail and an impressive size, larger than a full-grown tiger.
โIs this aโฆ wolf?โ Calliope hesitated, trying to find the right word. It didnโt look like any dog she had seen, yet it seemed too large for a typical wolf. Perhaps it was an arctic wolf, completely white.
โAwoo-โ
The creature in the cage, whether wolf or dog, let out an excited howl upon seeing Calliope.
Calliope stood there, momentarily stunned.
โDonโt you remember?โ Silas asked softly, โMillion.โ
โMillionโฆ Million!โ
Calliope looked at Silas in disbelief and quickly turned her gaze back to the magnificent white wolf in the cage. โMillion, is that you?โ
Suddenly, a long-forgotten memory rushed back to Calliopeโs mind.
