Chapter 137

โ€œHey, Calista, Dahlia, Yvetteโ€™s talking to you guys. Canโ€™t you hear her?โ€ Gideon clenched his fists, clearly aware that the family didnโ€™t really like Yvette. It was even more apparent when everyone seemed to be siding with Calliope.

It was burning him up inside. Seeing Calliopeโ€™s nonchalant attitude about his impending marriage to Yvette made things worse.

He had expected some kind of reactionโ€”anger, jealousy, anything. But Calliope was as calm as if theyโ€™d never had any connection.

Sheโ€™d really changed.

In the past, even a small interaction with Yvette would have made her jealous, but now he was on the brink of marriage, and he had even brought Yvette home. Yet Calliope remained unfazed, whispering with Silas and hardly glancing in his direction.

A profound sense of loss settled in Gideonโ€™s chest, like heโ€™d suddenly lost something important.

โ€œHi, Yvette,โ€ Calista and Dahlia finally responded, barely lifting their heads before returning their focus to Calliope, their faces lighting up with excitement.

โ€œCalliope, youโ€™re amazing!โ€

โ€œCan you show us how you do it?โ€

Calista and Dahlia were glued to Calliopeโ€™s phone, looking at her with admiration.

โ€œHow did you get that magic? I want it, too!โ€

โ€œMe too!โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll send you some later. If I have time, Iโ€™ll help you level up,โ€ Calliope said, ruffling their hair.

โ€œThanks, Calliope! Youโ€™re the best!โ€ they beamed.

Silas glanced at the pair before addressing their mother, Alyssa. โ€œHey, Alyssa, if Calista and Dahlia have time over the weekend or during breaks, they can come to the firm. Iโ€™ll teach them a few things.โ€

Alyssa was delighted at Silasโ€™s offer and quickly nodded. She turned to her children. โ€œWell, what do you say to your uncle and aunt?โ€

โ€œThank you, Uncle Silas and Aunt Calliope!โ€ they chimed in unison.

Silas nodded with a faint smile.

Upon overhearing, Verity looked toward Silas and the twins, her mind plotting something. Meanwhile, Fleurโ€™s face darkened. She couldnโ€™t believe her ears. Sheโ€™d asked Silas to mentor her son before, but heโ€™d always turned her down cold. But he was offering to bring Calista and Dahlia on board himself. Was it because of Calliope?

Fleur narrowed her eyes at Silas, feeling a mix of disbelief and resentment. Suspicion clouded her thoughts.

Gideonโ€™s face was red with anger. Whether Silas did it on purpose or not, it was humiliating. Wasnโ€™t today supposed to be about him and Yvette? Yet it seemed no one cared about their engagement.

Eamon cleared his throat and spoke up. โ€œSince Gideon invited us all to discuss the wedding, maybe you folks should weigh in. What do you think about the marriage? If everyone agrees, letโ€™s pick a date for the big day.โ€

Gideon hopefully looked around.

Seeing the silence, Eamon turned to Gideonโ€™s parents. โ€œJames, Fleur, this is about your son getting married. Itโ€™s your decision, but weโ€™re here to offer some advice. What are you thinking right now?โ€
