Chapter 137
โHey, Calista, Dahlia, Yvetteโs talking to you guys. Canโt you hear her?โ Gideon clenched his fists, clearly aware that the family didnโt really like Yvette. It was even more apparent when everyone seemed to be siding with Calliope.
It was burning him up inside. Seeing Calliopeโs nonchalant attitude about his impending marriage to Yvette made things worse.
He had expected some kind of reactionโanger, jealousy, anything. But Calliope was as calm as if theyโd never had any connection.
Sheโd really changed.
In the past, even a small interaction with Yvette would have made her jealous, but now he was on the brink of marriage, and he had even brought Yvette home. Yet Calliope remained unfazed, whispering with Silas and hardly glancing in his direction.
A profound sense of loss settled in Gideonโs chest, like heโd suddenly lost something important.
โHi, Yvette,โ Calista and Dahlia finally responded, barely lifting their heads before returning their focus to Calliope, their faces lighting up with excitement.
โCalliope, youโre amazing!โ
โCan you show us how you do it?โ
Calista and Dahlia were glued to Calliopeโs phone, looking at her with admiration.
โHow did you get that magic? I want it, too!โ
โMe too!โ
โIโll send you some later. If I have time, Iโll help you level up,โ Calliope said, ruffling their hair.
โThanks, Calliope! Youโre the best!โ they beamed.
Silas glanced at the pair before addressing their mother, Alyssa. โHey, Alyssa, if Calista and Dahlia have time over the weekend or during breaks, they can come to the firm. Iโll teach them a few things.โ
Alyssa was delighted at Silasโs offer and quickly nodded. She turned to her children. โWell, what do you say to your uncle and aunt?โ
โThank you, Uncle Silas and Aunt Calliope!โ they chimed in unison.
Silas nodded with a faint smile.
Upon overhearing, Verity looked toward Silas and the twins, her mind plotting something. Meanwhile, Fleurโs face darkened. She couldnโt believe her ears. Sheโd asked Silas to mentor her son before, but heโd always turned her down cold. But he was offering to bring Calista and Dahlia on board himself. Was it because of Calliope?
Fleur narrowed her eyes at Silas, feeling a mix of disbelief and resentment. Suspicion clouded her thoughts.
Gideonโs face was red with anger. Whether Silas did it on purpose or not, it was humiliating. Wasnโt today supposed to be about him and Yvette? Yet it seemed no one cared about their engagement.
Eamon cleared his throat and spoke up. โSince Gideon invited us all to discuss the wedding, maybe you folks should weigh in. What do you think about the marriage? If everyone agrees, letโs pick a date for the big day.โ
Gideon hopefully looked around.
Seeing the silence, Eamon turned to Gideonโs parents. โJames, Fleur, this is about your son getting married. Itโs your decision, but weโre here to offer some advice. What are you thinking right now?โ
