Chapter 181
โIโm sorry, Lisette. We couldnโt make it as grand as we hoped, and the party had so many hiccups,โ Ulysses said.
After the party wrapped up, Ulysses and the others apologized to Lisette. They knew Lisetteโs birthday bash was nothing compared to the extravagant affair Calliope had enjoyed. They had truly wanted to give her something even more special.
โDonโt worry about it. Itโs not your fault!โ Lisette replied gently. โIโm really happy with how it turned out. Thank you all. I know you guys love me the most.โ
โYou little goof, of course we love you,โ Ulysses said, ruffling her hair. โYouโll always be our only sister. Donโt worry. Your brothers are always here for you. While this birthday party might not have been perfect, next year will be amazing without any distractions!โ
โBut, isnโt it unfair to Callie?โ Lisette lowered her gaze. โSheโs your real sister, and Iโm just someone who came into your lives. Shouldnโt it be me who leaves?โ
โNot at all, Lisette. Youโre our real sister!โ Ulysses assured her.
โYeah, donโt think like that! You mean more to us than you realize,โ Valerian added.
โForget what others say. Youโre the sister weโll protect for life,โ chimed Horatio, looking at her warmly.
Lisette was touched. โHaving you in my life is the best thing ever!โ
โAnd weโre just as lucky to have you!โ they replied, their smiles wide.
Meanwhile, Calliope hopped into the car with Silas, who had brought a change of clothes for her. After a quick change, they invited Uriah and some friends to grab a late-night snack.
They settled by the river with spicy buffalo wings, cheesy nachos, and ice-cold beers and enjoyed the night breeze.
Initially, Calliope felt a heaviness in her heart, but the aroma of the wings quickly lifted her spirits.
โWe should celebrate, Callie,โ Portia said, pouring drinks. โCheers to you finally breaking free from that messed-up family!โ
โExactly! Good riddance to them!โ Archie toasted with a grin. โCallie, you wonโt have to deal with their nonsense anymore. Youโll only get better from here!โ
โCallie, remember, you still have us,โ Mavis added. โAnd your brothers. Youโre loved by many.โ
โI think it is a positive step,โ Uriah agreed. โIt mustโve taken so much courage, but I believe it was the right move.โ
Calliope smiled softly. โThanks, guys. With you here, it doesnโt feel so bad.โ
Cutting ties with her family left a hollow space in her heart, but surrounded by friends, she felt warmth and security return.
โTheyโre the ones missing out on you,โ Portia said confidently. โSomeday, theyโll realize what they lost. They have no idea how amazing you are.โ
โYeah, a bunch of fools. Theyโll be begging for forgiveness one day,โ Archie added, his expression serious. Mavis nodded. โThe Jewell family was too blind, and Lisette acted her part too well. But eventually, her act will fall apart!โ
