Chapter 241

โ€œMr. Thorne, it was Calliopeโ€™s responsibility to keep an eye on your son. You canโ€™t just cover for her because you two are close, right?โ€ Valerian was trying to reason with him.

โ€œLisette would never take your kid. Sheโ€™s not that kind of person.โ€

โ€œOh really?โ€ Upton turned to him. โ€œLetโ€™s see when we find Baber.โ€

Just as they stepped out of the amusement park, Calliopeโ€™s phone buzzed with a call.

โ€œGot it. Weโ€™re on our way.โ€

She turned to Upton. โ€œTheyโ€™ve found Baber. Heโ€™s been taken to the hospital. Sounds like he got pretty shaken up and isnโ€™t feeling well. We should head there now.โ€

They swiftly piled into their cars, dragging Lisette along with them.

Ulysses and his crew followed close behind, their cars speeding down the road toward the hospital.

By the time they arrived, Baber had already been admitted to a room. A group of specialists hovered around him, looking uncertain. Silas stood by the bedside, his brows furrowed as he studied the boy.

At the door, Fagan spotted Calliope and the others arriving. He wasted no time filling them in. The moment Calliope realized Baber was missing, she had reached out to Silas. In this city, no one had more power or influence than him. If anyone could find Baber, it was Silas.

Since Silas had learned of Baber being her godson, he personally went out searching for him. And not long after, he tracked Baber down. Fagan explained that Baber had been drugged and locked in an old abandoned house, guarded by a few men. He had been in distress, which likely contributed to his current condition.

โ€œIโ€™ll go see him.โ€

Without hesitation, Calliope stepped into the room. The doctors immediately stepped aside, giving her space.

โ€œMommy!โ€ Baberโ€™s voice was small and shaky as he looked at Calliope. โ€œMy tummy hurts.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t be scared, sweetheart. Iโ€™m here now. Youโ€™ll be okay,โ€ she reassured him with a warm smile. She moved closer, taking his wrist lightly to check his pulse. Then, without hesitation, she pulled out a small silver case, selected a few acupuncture needles, and carefully placed them along specific points on his abdomen.

Baber blinked up at her.

โ€œHow do you feel now?โ€ Calliope asked softly.

Baber smiled at Calliope. โ€œIt feels warmโ€ฆ much better. Thanks, Mommy!โ€ Then, he turned his head toward Silas. โ€œAnd thank you too, Daddy Silas! Youโ€™re just as cool as my real dad!โ€

Silas was dead serious. โ€œCooler than your dad.โ€

Baber was speechless. Alright, so his real dad wasnโ€™t the only one with a big ego.

With Baber stabilized, Calliope finally turned to Silas. โ€œDid you catch them?โ€

โ€œYeah.โ€ Silas shifted his gaze toward Upton. By now, Fagan had already given him a rundown of the situation.

Upton strode forward, glancing at Baber. Seeing that the boy was safe, he finally exhaled, tension easing from his shoulders. Then he asked, โ€œBaber, do you know who did this to you?โ€

Baber pointed toward the doorway, where a pair of bodyguards were holding Lisette by the arms.

โ€œIt was her! That bad woman knocked me out!โ€ Baber uttered angrily, โ€œBad woman!โ€

Lisette had never expected Baber to be found so quickly, let alone that he would remember her.

โ€œThatโ€™s impossible! You canโ€™t trust a kidโ€™s memory!โ€ Valerian burst out. โ€œThey get people mixed up all the time. Or maybe this is you, Calliope. Did you deliberately shift the blame on Lisette? Maybe you put ideas in his head. Heโ€™s close to you. Whatever you say, heโ€™ll listen.โ€
