Chapter 248

Baber looked like he was about to burst into tears, and even the bodyguard, who knew full well he was putting on an act, was on the verge of breaking down.

With a sharp glare at Lisette, he turned on his heel and walked off with Baber in tow.

The nurses and a handful of patients, along with their families who had gathered at the doorway, were all watching Baber with sheer heartbreak written across their faces.

Someone pointed accusingly at Lisette.

โ€œHow could you be so cruel? Is it his fault that he doesnโ€™t have a mom?โ€

โ€œHow could you say such awful things to a child?โ€

โ€œWhatโ€™s so terrible about him? Look at him. Heโ€™s adorable!โ€

โ€œThis woman kidnapped that poor kid, and now, sheโ€™s trying to frame him? Unbelievable!โ€

โ€œShe totally deserved to have her arm broken!โ€

โ€œSomeone like her should go to hell! Picking on a little kid, what kind of monster does that? Try bullying someone your size!โ€

โ€œBaber, youโ€™re not a bad kid! Youโ€™re a good kid!โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s right! We all can see that youโ€™re a good kid!โ€

โ€œThe real villain here is her. Look at that sharp, nasty face of hers! She looks like trouble!โ€

Some were comforting Baber, while others hurled their anger at Lisette.

Lisetteโ€™s arm was throbbing with pain, and she was being verbally attacked by what felt like half the hospital. She was livid.

Meanwhile, back in his hospital room, Baber wasted no time. He ordered one of his bodyguards to stir up more outrage in the hospital and report how things unfolded for Lisette.

Soon, the updates started rolling in.

Lisetteโ€™s arm, which had undergone surgery, needed a second operation, all thanks to Baber.

But by then, the entire hospital had heard the rumors about Lisetteโ€™s cruelty and heartlessness. Not a single doctor was willing to treat her.

And when the hospital director found out sheโ€™d offended the young heir of the Thorne Family, he didnโ€™t hesitate to have her thrown out.

โ€œYou canโ€™t kick us out!โ€ Lisette shrieked, clinging to the hospital bed as if her life depended on it. โ€œSt. Mercy Hospital has the best orthopedic department! I want the best surgeon to fix my arm!โ€

One of the nurses gave her a cold, unbothered look. โ€œOur hospital does have the best orthopedic surgeon in the world, but unfortunately, he refuses to treat you.โ€

โ€œMs. Jewell,โ€ the nurse continued without sympathy, โ€œour hospital director has made it clear. St. Mercy Hospital will not be accepting you as a patient. So please, gather your things and leave. If you refuse, donโ€™t blame us for taking action.โ€

โ€œWhy?โ€ Lisette screamed, her voice filled with rage.

โ€œBecause we donโ€™t think youโ€™re a decent person,โ€ the nurse answered bluntly. โ€œEveryone here knows how you treated Baber. The entire hospital staff agreed. You donโ€™t deserve to stay.โ€ Her eyes flicked over Lisette with unmistakable disdain.

โ€œItโ€™s a hospital! You canโ€™t turn away a patient because of their personality!โ€ Valerian frowned. โ€œLisette is a good person. Sheโ€™s not the monster youโ€™re making her out to be!โ€

โ€œWe saw her tormenting Baber with our own eyes! A child doesnโ€™t lie! And she threw a glass at him! Sheโ€™s lucky we havenโ€™t called the cops!โ€

One of the nurses scowled.

โ€œThere must be some misunderstanding,โ€ Valerian insisted. โ€œRegardless, youโ€™re a hospital! You canโ€™t throw a patient out over personal bias!โ€

โ€œSorry, but we donโ€™t treat heartless people at this hospital,โ€ another nurse retorted.

โ€œBesides,โ€ another interrupted, crossing her arms, โ€œweโ€™re out of beds anyway. So, do us all a favor and find another hospital.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m not leaving!โ€ Lisette snapped, gripping the sheets tightly. โ€œI refuse to leave! Iโ€™m staying right here!โ€

Just then, a deep, gruff voice echoed from the doorway. โ€œWho the hell is taking my hospital bed?โ€
