Chapter 251

Calliope stood there, her expression as blank as a freshly painted wall, staring at Valerian. โ€œI havenโ€™t considered myself part of the Jewell family for a long time.โ€

โ€œCalliope, have you lost your sense of decency?โ€ Zelda was practically vibrating with anger, itching to lash out but fully aware she couldnโ€™t take Calliope in a fair fight.

โ€œIโ€™m not asking for much. Just help Horatio with his legs! Are you going to leave him hanging like this? Heโ€™s your brother by blood! Your family! Arenโ€™t you even going to try to find the Miracle Doctor to fix his leg?โ€

Calliope raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Zeldaโ€™s desperation. โ€œFunny, huh? You all said I wasnโ€™t fit to be the Jewell family. And now, suddenly, Iโ€™m supposed to care because weโ€™re family?โ€

โ€œSure, I can help. But itโ€™ll cost you. Give me shares in the Jewell Group, and Iโ€™ll see what I can do. I not only know the whereabouts of the Miracle Doctor, but weโ€™re on pretty good terms. I can ask her to help out.โ€

Her words were like a sharp jab, leaving Zelda and Valerian frustrated.

Valerian looked at her, disbelief etched on his face. โ€œCalliope, are you seriously trying to take advantage of this situation? Trading our brotherโ€™s legs for company shares? Thatโ€™s low, even for you.โ€

Seething, Zelda added, โ€œExactly! Dream on! Weโ€™re not handing the shares to you! Just tell us where she is, and Iโ€™ll give you 100,000 dollars for the address!โ€

Calliope shrugged nonchalantly. โ€œ$100,000? Thatโ€™s pocket change for Lisette in a year. You need to up your offer.โ€

Zelda was flabbergasted. โ€œThatโ€™s your brother! He used to treat you well!โ€

โ€œThat was back in the day.โ€

โ€œIs your heart made of stone?โ€ Valerian took a deep breath. โ€œWeโ€™re asking for a favor. Just ask around a bit. Why are you being so difficult?โ€

โ€œWhy donโ€™t you ask yourselves?โ€ Calliope crossed her arms, unmoved.

Valerian gritted his teeth. โ€œWe would have done it ourselves if we hadnโ€™t ticked off the Thorne family.โ€

โ€œMaybe you shouldnโ€™t have let your darling sister mess with them. Whoโ€™s to blame here?โ€

โ€œItโ€™s all your fault!โ€ Zeldaโ€™s glare was like daggers. โ€œIf it werenโ€™t for you, Lisette wouldnโ€™t have gotten into trouble!โ€

Calliope rolled her eyes. โ€œRight. Blame me for everything.โ€

โ€œJust find out where the Miracle Doctor is, okay? Lisetteโ€™s arm will only heal right if the Miracle Doctor helps.โ€ Zeldaโ€™s voice was sharp and commanding, taking Calliope as a mere servant.

โ€œAnd you want me to throw Lisette into the deal, too? Then weโ€™re talking at least twenty percent of the company shares.โ€ Calliope calculated with a straight face. โ€œTwenty percent, not a penny less.โ€

โ€œCalliope, are you seriously trying to rob us blind? Are you for real?โ€ Valerianโ€™s brow furrowed in frustration. โ€œI swear, thereโ€™s no sister like you in the whole wide world!โ€

โ€œExactly. Iโ€™m one of a kind,โ€ Calliope declared with a smirk. โ€œIโ€™m exceptional, one of a kind.โ€

โ€œWhatโ€™s the matter? You all look like youโ€™ve seen a ghost.โ€ She glanced at Zelda and the others. โ€œNo shares? Fine. Iโ€™ve got plenty to do. I guess you donโ€™t care that much about Horatio and Lisette if you wonโ€™t even trade twenty percent of the company shares for their health.โ€

With that, Calliope turned and walked away.

Zelda stomped her foot in frustration. โ€œThat wretched devil! I knew it, sheโ€™s a curse. She wonโ€™t be happy until sheโ€™s ruined the whole family!โ€

Valerianโ€™s face was a storm cloud of frustration.

Calliope was busy tending to Baber for the next few days, immersing herself in her work.
