Chapter 251
Calliope stood there, her expression as blank as a freshly painted wall, staring at Valerian. โI havenโt considered myself part of the Jewell family for a long time.โ
โCalliope, have you lost your sense of decency?โ Zelda was practically vibrating with anger, itching to lash out but fully aware she couldnโt take Calliope in a fair fight.
โIโm not asking for much. Just help Horatio with his legs! Are you going to leave him hanging like this? Heโs your brother by blood! Your family! Arenโt you even going to try to find the Miracle Doctor to fix his leg?โ
Calliope raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Zeldaโs desperation. โFunny, huh? You all said I wasnโt fit to be the Jewell family. And now, suddenly, Iโm supposed to care because weโre family?โ
โSure, I can help. But itโll cost you. Give me shares in the Jewell Group, and Iโll see what I can do. I not only know the whereabouts of the Miracle Doctor, but weโre on pretty good terms. I can ask her to help out.โ
Her words were like a sharp jab, leaving Zelda and Valerian frustrated.
Valerian looked at her, disbelief etched on his face. โCalliope, are you seriously trying to take advantage of this situation? Trading our brotherโs legs for company shares? Thatโs low, even for you.โ
Seething, Zelda added, โExactly! Dream on! Weโre not handing the shares to you! Just tell us where she is, and Iโll give you 100,000 dollars for the address!โ
Calliope shrugged nonchalantly. โ$100,000? Thatโs pocket change for Lisette in a year. You need to up your offer.โ
Zelda was flabbergasted. โThatโs your brother! He used to treat you well!โ
โThat was back in the day.โ
โIs your heart made of stone?โ Valerian took a deep breath. โWeโre asking for a favor. Just ask around a bit. Why are you being so difficult?โ
โWhy donโt you ask yourselves?โ Calliope crossed her arms, unmoved.
Valerian gritted his teeth. โWe would have done it ourselves if we hadnโt ticked off the Thorne family.โ
โMaybe you shouldnโt have let your darling sister mess with them. Whoโs to blame here?โ
โItโs all your fault!โ Zeldaโs glare was like daggers. โIf it werenโt for you, Lisette wouldnโt have gotten into trouble!โ
Calliope rolled her eyes. โRight. Blame me for everything.โ
โJust find out where the Miracle Doctor is, okay? Lisetteโs arm will only heal right if the Miracle Doctor helps.โ Zeldaโs voice was sharp and commanding, taking Calliope as a mere servant.
โAnd you want me to throw Lisette into the deal, too? Then weโre talking at least twenty percent of the company shares.โ Calliope calculated with a straight face. โTwenty percent, not a penny less.โ
โCalliope, are you seriously trying to rob us blind? Are you for real?โ Valerianโs brow furrowed in frustration. โI swear, thereโs no sister like you in the whole wide world!โ
โExactly. Iโm one of a kind,โ Calliope declared with a smirk. โIโm exceptional, one of a kind.โ
โWhatโs the matter? You all look like youโve seen a ghost.โ She glanced at Zelda and the others. โNo shares? Fine. Iโve got plenty to do. I guess you donโt care that much about Horatio and Lisette if you wonโt even trade twenty percent of the company shares for their health.โ
With that, Calliope turned and walked away.
Zelda stomped her foot in frustration. โThat wretched devil! I knew it, sheโs a curse. She wonโt be happy until sheโs ruined the whole family!โ
Valerianโs face was a storm cloud of frustration.
Calliope was busy tending to Baber for the next few days, immersing herself in her work.
