Chapter 254
โYou must have been exhausted,โ Silas murmured, โI wanted to let you sleep a little longer. I know itโs hard for you to fall asleep again once youโre awake.โ
โItโs okay to wake me,โ Calliope said as she exited the car.
Silas followed her, stretching his arms a bit as he did.
Calliope noticed immediately. โYour armโs gone numb, huh? You shouldโve woken me up.โ
โItโs fine. I just needed a bit of stretching.โ
Together, they headed inside and went to their room.
Silas pulled Calliope into his embrace as soon as they entered, his deep, bright eyes locked onto hers. โCallie, now that youโre awake, should weโฆ you know, do something?โ
Calliopeโs eyes widened. Just moments ago, she felt sorry for him, but now, not so much. โMen,โ she thought with a playful roll of her eyes, โalways thinking with their lower half.โ
โCan we?โ he asked, his voice a husky whisper as he leaned in, brushing his lips against hers. โYouโve been so busy these days. We havenโt had time for ourselves.โ
โDonโt you want to?โ he teased, one hand sneaking under her sweater, making her shiver.
Her knees buckled slightly, but Silas was quick to catch her, his other hand exploring her skin, sending little electric shocks with every caress.
โLetโsโฆ letโs shower firstโฆโ she stammered, her words shaky, her desire undeniable.
Silas kissed her deeply with a triumphant grin before leading her to the bathroom. The steam soon filled the room, wrapping them in a warm cocoon of intimacy.
All night, Calliope found herself swept up again and again in Silasโs embrace. At one point, he whispered in her ear, โBaber is adorable. Do you want a baby?โ
Calliope paused, her thoughts scattered. โMaybe someday,โ she replied hesitantly. She wasnโt sure how far their future stretched. She needed to know his secrets before making such a big decision.
Silas stiffened slightly, a flicker of dissatisfaction crossing his face. But he quickly resumed, his movements more intense, his whispered sweet nothings continuing to melt her resolve.
As Calliope drifted into a sleepy haze, Silasโs phone rang, cutting through the serenity.
He glanced at it and immediately answered, his tone shifting as he spoke.
โWhatโs wrong?โ Calliope asked, turning her head toward him.
โSomething urgent came up,โ Silas said, kissing her forehead tenderly. โYou sleep. I have to step out for a bit.โ
โOkay,โ she mumbled sleepily.
Silas left and still hadnโt returned by the next day. Calliope wasnโt too worried because she knew Silasโs work sometimes required him to disappear for days.
What she didnโt expect was a photo she received that afternoon.
It was of Silas with another woman, their posture suspiciously intimate.
