Chapter 255
But Calliope was surprisingly calm when she saw the photo. The woman in the picture was someone she recognized.
In Capitaltonโs elite circles, this woman had a bit of a reputation. Calliope knew her, and she knew there was some connection between this woman and Silas. Rumor had it that Silas took care of her.
But what Calliope couldnโt figure out was who had sent her this picture and what they intended by it.
The message came with an address. She could guess that the sender wanted her to catch Silas in the act.
But she was hardly interested in such theatrics. She didnโt believe for a second that Silas was genuinely interested in this woman.
The woman was clever and capable, sure, but she wasnโt Silasโs type. If she had been, they would have been an item long ago based on their history.
So, Calliope dismissed it.
She wondered what kind of person would do something so trivial. If it had been the woman Silas actually had feelings for, she might have been more intrigued. But this woman? She really didnโt care.
Ignoring the message, she continued her conversation about work.
โThis project should proceed as discussed. Follow my instructions, and when it comes to casting, Iโll attend the auditions.โ
โAlright, Iโll notify the director.โ
โGreat, Ms. Jewell. Iโll be leaving now.โ
โOkay.โ Calliope nodded.
After wrapping up her meeting, Calliope headed to the hospital. She had picked up some snacks and toys that Baber liked.
Upton and the others had already sorted out the discharge paperwork by the time she arrived.
โMommy, weโre leaving now!โ Baber looked at Calliope with a touch of sadness. He hugged her and gazed up at her, โWhen are you coming to Sea City? If you visit, weโll show you around!โ
โIโll probably come by around Christmas.โ Calliope tousled Baberโs hair. โIf I have time, Iโll come visit you! Here, this is for you.โ
โWow! Thanks, Mommy!โ Baber eagerly accepted the gifts Calliope gave him.
โOpen them slowly when you get home. If you feel unwell, remember to tell me and take your medicine on time, alright?โ
โGot it!โ Baber saluted playfully.
Calliope chuckled, then turned to Upton. โIf anything comes up, keep me in the loop. If I can, Iโll come check in.โ
โSure thing.โ Upton nodded. โIs Silas not coming?โ
โNo, he had some business to attend to,โ Calliope replied.
Upton nodded. โAlright, weโre off then. Take care, and remember, if anyone makes things hard for you, youโve got friends in Sea City. I can come to Capitalton if needed.โ
โGot it.โ Calliope saw them off, watching as they drove away.
Only after they were gone did she turn around.
โTheyโre gone now, so whatever you wanted to ask, you wonโt get an answer.โ She looked over to where Zelda and Valerian were lurking in the corner.
They emerged, visibly frustrated.
โCalliope, I donโt believe you donโt know where the Miracle Doctor is. You must know, right?โ Zelda squinted suspiciously. What puzzled her was that sheโd heard the child was cured.
But they had been keeping an eye on them and hadnโt seen any sign of this supposed miracle doctor. When they tried asking around at the hospital, no one knew anything.
โYeah, I do know.โ Calliope crossed her arms. โIโve mentioned it before, but no one believed me.โ
โShe mentioned it?โ Zelda looked at Valerian.
โNo,โ Valerian frowned, thinking. He was sure Calliope had never said anything.
