Chapter 260
Yara huffed, "Uriah, after all we've been through, is this how you see me?"
Uriah shrugged helplessly. "I just think it's pointless, Yara. Silas has known you forever, and if he doesn't like you, he doesn't like you. Why push it? Callie hasn't done anything wrong. It's not fair to corner her like this."
Yara glanced at Calliope. "She could just step aside, you know. Let me have Silas. I like him, and I won't do anything to hurt him. What do you say?"
Calliope remained silent, pondering.
Yara continued, "It's not like you have to be here. I heard you married Silas on a whim, like a business deal, with no real feelings involved, right? No feelings means divorce is inevitable, whether it's sooner or later."
Calliopeโs striking eyes met Yaraโs. After a pause, she spoke softly, "Silas is my husband."
"And so?"
"Of course, I care about him."
"And then?"
"What do you expect me to do?"
Yaraโs eyes widened with surprise. "I heard you two donโt have any real feelings for each other, so I didnโt think youโd make any sacrifices for him."
"Thatโs what you heard. The truth is, I would make some sacrifices for Silas," Calliope replied calmly.
"Really?" Yara raised an eyebrow. "Would you do anything to save him?"
"That depends on what youโre asking. If itโs too outrageous, I might have to take matters into my own hands."
Calliopeโs red lips curled into a slight smile. She had been looking down, but now she lifted her head, her eyes sharp and bright.
In that instant, her gaze pierced Yaraโs soul.
Yara was stunned, a shiver of disbelief running through her. For a moment, Calliope reminded her of Silas, especially with that intense stare, sending a chill down her spine. She was surprised and oddly unsurprised.
"Tonight, Iโm hosting a party," Yara said. "Iโll return him to you tomorrow if you agree to follow my lead for the evening."
"Of course, if you canโt do it, I might not be so inclined to give him back."
"Fine," Calliope agreed without hesitation. "But donโt overstep. Iโve heard of you, Yara, and I trust youโre not entirely unreasonable."
Yaraโs crimson lips twisted into a sly smile.
"Well, that remains to be seen. Letโs see how far you will go for Silas."
"Do we need to go this far?" Uriah interjected, his mouth twitching. He knew Yara well.
Her feelings for Silas were genuine. Whether this whole scenario was planned by both of them or just Yara, he couldnโt tell.
But whatever the case, making Calliope follow Yaraโs lead at the party was unpredictable.
Yara hadnโt reached her current status solely because of Silasโs help. If she didnโt have the chops, Silas wouldnโt have helped her at all. She was indeed competent.
"If we donโt test the waters, how will we know if she truly cares about Silas?" Yara smirked at Calliope. "Wouldnโt you agree?"
Calliopeโs lips curved slightly. "Can I see Silas first?"
"Of courseโno, you canโt." Yara chuckled, "You should get ready. Tonight, I expect you to play by my rules."
