Chapter 280

As the three brothers were chatting, Monty strolled into the room, his brow furrowed with curiosity.

โ€œHey, what are you all doing here?โ€ he asked, glancing around at his sons.

โ€œWhatโ€™s up, Dad?โ€ Horatio turned to face him.

โ€œIs there something going on with Calliope lately? Some of my clients called today, all wanting to meet her!โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s odd,โ€ Monty mused. โ€œUsually, they ask for Lisette when it comes to business dinners, but now a few requested Calliope! Nobody used to know who she was, let alone be interested in her. Whatโ€™s changed?โ€

Monty was scratching his head in confusion. Some even praised Calliope as being incredibly talented, and he couldnโ€™t quite figure out what they were seeing that he wasnโ€™t.

A few even suggested challenging her to a drinking contest or asking her to play the banjo.

What on earth was going on?

The brothers exchanged uneasy glances. They didnโ€™t expect Montyโ€™s clients to be so keen on meeting Calliope.

โ€œWell, itโ€™s not just any clients,โ€ Monty continued. โ€œA very important one is insisting on seeing Calliope.โ€ He sighed, rubbing his temples. โ€œDo you think sheโ€™d agree to help if I asked her? You guys used to get along well when you were kids. Maybe you could apologize and convince her to join the dinner. This client is our biggest one in years, and if they disagree to work with us, it could spell trouble for the company.โ€

The three brothers fell silent, overwhelmed by the unexpected turn of events. They were certain Calliope must have done something to pique this clientโ€™s interest.

Horatio glanced at his brothers, a silent conversation passing between them.

โ€œWhatever it takes, you need to persuade her,โ€ Monty urged. โ€œThe dinner is in three days, and she must attend.โ€

After that, Monty muttered to himself and left the room.

Ulysses frowned, shaking his head. โ€œI donโ€™t think Calliope can help. If anything, she might make things worse.โ€

โ€œAgreed,โ€ Valerian nodded. โ€œEven if she wants to help, I doubt sheโ€™d do anything beneficial.โ€

โ€œRight,โ€ Ulysses said, casting a sidelong glance at Valerian. โ€œLetโ€™s ask Lisette. Sheโ€™s charming and good at smoothing things over.โ€

โ€œYeah, just have a word with her,โ€ Valerian agreed. โ€œEven though her armโ€™s injured, she can still manage a dinner and some conversation.โ€

The three brothers decided not to approach Calliope, opting instead to enlist Lisetteโ€™s help.

Meanwhile, Calliope was busy with her second challenge. Sheโ€™d entered a cage with a live tiger, tasked with spending half an hour inside.

But Calliope wasnโ€™t afraid at all. Tigers were oversized cats to her, and she found them quite endearing. She always had a fondness for Snowy and loved to pet him whenever she could.

โ€œSure, sheโ€™s strong,โ€ someone commented from the sidelines, โ€œbut tigers are way more dangerous than alligators, and theyโ€™re quick. Sheโ€™s bitten off more than she can chew this time.โ€

โ€œOne wrong move and she could be done for.โ€

โ€œHas this tiger been starved or something?โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t know. Calliope seems full of surprises. She might pull it off.โ€

โ€œYeah. Calliopeโ€™s certainly unpredictable.โ€
