Chapter 287
Yara gave Calliope a once-over, her eyes narrowing slightly. โHas he ever mentioned that woman to you?โ
Calliope was puzzled. Silas wasnโt the type to talk about his past, not even to Yara, who had only seen a photo of the woman and knew of her existence. But beyond that, the details were a mystery.
Yaraโs sharp and inquisitive eyes rested on Calliope. She couldnโt help but wonder if Silas saw Calliope as a stand-in for this mysterious woman or if his feelings were genuine. Regardless of Silasโs intentions, Yara was warming up to Calliope.
Calliope had surprised her. Rumor had it that the Jewell family wasnโt fond of her. Though she was their biological daughter, they seemed to favor Lisette, their adopted child, bringing her to important events and leaving Calliope behind. Whenever Calliopeโs name came up, they branded her as a jinx, an outsider barely tolerated.
Yet, in Yaraโs brief interactions with Calliope, she found Calliope had a unique charm.
Yara had met Lisette, who always dressed extravagantly but gave off an air of superficiality. Lisette seemed to rely heavily on her brothers, who protected her at every turn.
In contrast, Calliope was like a wildflower, resilient and thriving despite adversity. Her strength and unexpected capabilities stood out. She seemed nothing like the Jewell family, who, in Yaraโs opinion, were lackluster compared to her.
Calliope glanced at Yara. She had no idea who Silasโs mysterious woman was or what she looked like, but Yaraโs comments suggested a resemblance.
Was Silas helping her because sheโd once helped him, or was it because she reminded him of someone else?
โI donโt know much, but if youโre curious, I can fill you in,โ Yara offered, sensing Calliopeโs uncertainty.
Surprisingly, Calliope didnโt press for more information. She simply nodded and asked, โWhere is Silas?โ
Yara was stunned. โArenโt you curious? He might only see you as a replacement. Would you still want to be with him?โ
โIโll wait until heโs ready to tell me,โ Calliope replied calmly.
She didnโt want to pry. Asking too many questions would only unsettle her. If Silas wanted to share, he would. If not, it meant it wasnโt worth knowing. Sometimes, knowing too much could complicate a relationship.
Yara chuckled, raising her thumb in approval. โYouโre different, and I like you. Letโs be friends.โ
โSure,โ Calliope agreed without hesitation. She understood Yara was Silasโs friend, and theyโd likely cross paths often. Making allies was always wiser than making enemies.
They quickly went to the rooftop.
Yara swung open a door, and Silas emerged, his gaze softening as it landed on Calliope.
