Chapter 304
โCallie, come on. Itโs a tiny favor weโre asking,โ Horatio pleaded softly, looking at Calliope hopefully. โHelp us out, please.โ
Calliope glanced at Horatio, her expression unreadable. She stayed silent. In her mind, he was just like the rest of them.
โCalliope, our patience is wearing thin!โ Valerian snapped, frustration creeping into his voice. โWhen we ask you nicely, itโs best to agree!โ
โOr what?โ Calliope retorted, raising an eyebrow. โAre you threatening me now?โ
Valerian gritted his teeth, glaring at her. Try as he might, there was nothing he could use to corner Calliope.
She wasnโt the same person she used to be. She no longer played nice just to win favor. And she certainly wasnโt homeless anymore. The place she lived now made their home look like a shabby motel by comparison.
โGo ahead. Give it a shot.โ Calliopeโs voice was calm, her face serene. โIโll be impressed if you can intimidate me.โ
Ulysses looked sour, not expecting Calliope to be this difficult. With Silas backing her, she seemed untouchable, doing whatever she pleased.
โCalliope, you canโt go around acting all high and mighty. Have you ever thought about the consequences?โ Ulysses warned. โWhat if Silas leaves you one day? You think you wonโt come running back to us? Right now, weโre offering you a chance.โ
โShe wonโt need to,โ a voice interjected from behind them.
Silas had appeared, entering the room with an air of authority that made everyone else seem insignificant.
His presence was commanding, and he made his way over to Calliope. โHoney, Iโm back,โ he said, his eyes softening as he looked at her.
Calliope nodded in acknowledgment.
โIโm not leaving her unless she doesnโt want me anymore,โ Silas declared confidently. โAnd even if she does leave me, she wonโt need to come crawling to you. Iโd leave with nothing, and sheโd still be wealthier than the lot of you.โ
His words left Valerian and the others speechless, their expressions souring.
โMr. Myers, arenโt you spoiling her too much?โ Valerian asked, frowning. โDoes she deserve it?โ
โAbsolutely,โ Silas chuckled, a warm affection in his gaze as he looked at Calliope. But when he looked back at them, his eyes were cold and sharp. โIf she doesnโt, then no one does.โ
โYouโll regret it, Mr. Myers,โ Valerian insisted. โShe has so many flaws!โ
Silas sneered, โSo what? I like her flaws and all.โ
Valerian was at a loss for words.
โMr. Myers, donโt you think she lacks empathy? If she can treat us this way, she might do the same to you,โ Ulysses accused with a sly grin. โIf something happens to you, she wonโt care. Sheโll be just as cold-hearted when you need her!โ
โSheโs a viper! Keep a woman like that close, and sheโll bite you one day!โ
โOh?โ Silas said as he sat beside Calliope, crossing his legs and looking at Ulysses with amusement. โEven if sheโs exactly as you say, I still love her.โ
Ulysses was speechless, wondering if Silas had lost his mind.
โCallie, please help us, okay?โ Monty interjected, ignoring Silas and turning back to Calliope. โEven if you donโt help, tell me your connection with Mr. Lopez, at least, okay?โ
