Chapter 331
โFine, letโs hear it from each of you!โ Calliope pointed at the girl sitting beside Lisette, who had been talking the most a moment ago.
โMe?โ The girl was stunned, glancing nervously at Calliopeโs slightly rebellious demeanor. She couldnโt understand why, but felt uneasy. โI, um, I donโt have anything to say!โ
โReally?โ Calliope chuckled. โWerenโt you curious a moment ago? Arenโt you going to ask if those rumors about me are true? Oh wait, youโve decided they are, havenโt you?โ
She nodded, leaning closer. โSo, any other questions? Calliope here, live and in-person, is ready to answer them. Is no one interested?โ
Everyone else looked around. Though the classmates were dying of curiosity, nobody dared to speak up. There was something about Calliope that intimidated them all.
โYeah, where are the gossipers? Cat got your tongue?โ Portia stepped up beside Calliope. โIf youโve got questions, ask them to her face. Gossiping behind her back doesnโt make you brave!โ
โCallie, stop it. Youโre making everyone uncomfortable,โ Lisette frowned, her voice dripping with concern. โItโs a class reunion, not your personal birthday bash.โ
Each word seemed like she was looking out for Calliope, but they only served to put all the attention and blame on Calliope.
โExactly. It is a reunion, not Calliopeโs one-woman show.โ
โShowing up here just to get noticed afterโฆโ
โDo you not even know what youโve done?โ
โThis is hilarious!โ
โIโm sorry, everyone. Itโs just that my sister has been dealing with many rumors, and sheโs not in the best mood,โ Lisette quickly turned, apologizing to everyone. โI apologize on her behalf!โ
Then she turned to Calliope, โCallie, why donโt you apologize too? This isnโt right. You canโt just take out your frustration on everyone here because of what people say about you! Itโs been years since we all gathered. Catching up and chatting is normal!โ
โCallie, donโt be like this!โ Lisetteโs face was full of insincerity.
Portia was fuming. โWow, youโre such a performer! You should have gone to Hollywood!โ
โWhat are you talking about, Portia? I donโt understand.โ
โOh, you donโt understand?โ Portia laughed. โSuch a good act. I donโt understand either.โ
Calliope scanned the room, her eyes lingering on Lisette. Suddenly, she stood up and slapped Lisette across the face.
โDidnโt I tell you Iโm not your sister? I said Iโd hit you every time you call me that! Weโre not even the same breed, and youโre calling me sis?โ
โLove playing the victim? Letโs make it more believable. Here, lean in, let me help you with a nice bruise.โ Calliope smirked, a mischievous glint in her eye.
The slap was hard, leaving Lisetteโs face numb with shock. She hadnโt seen it coming and couldnโt believe Calliope would be so bold, hitting her in front of everyone.
At first, she was furious but then quickly calmed down. Calliope was only helping her. Being slapped out of nowhere would surely rally everyone against Calliope.
โCallie-โ
โSmack!โ Another slap landed on Lisetteโs face. โAre we that close? Who said you could call me Callie?โ
Lisetteโs eyes widened in disbelief. She hadnโt expected Calliope to hit her again.
Everyone around was equally stunned.
