Chapter 332

Who wouldโ€™ve thought Calliope slapped Lisette across the face before everyone โ€“ not just once, but twice? There was no holding back.

Everyone was stunned. The entire banquet hall fell silent, so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

But Portia thought Calliope did a good job. She almost wanted to applaud Calliope.

But then she realized that this would only give the gossipers more to talk about, and her head began to ache with the thought.

โ€œMaybe it wouldโ€™ve been better to take Lisette somewhere private and give her a piece of my mind,โ€ Portia mused to herself.

โ€œCallieโ€“โ€ Portia tried to quietly get Calliopeโ€™s attention.

Calliope grabbed a napkin and wiped her hand, looking at Lisette sternly. โ€œDid you smear yourself with too much makeup?โ€

She looked a bit disgusted.

Lisette held her face, her lips trembling. She couldnโ€™t believe Calliope would go so nuts.

โ€œโ€”โ€

โ€œWhyโ€“โ€

โ€œIโ€™m sorryโ€“โ€

Her head hung low, and tears started to fall.

In this case, silence spoke louder than words. The crowd around them quickly took Lisetteโ€™s side.

โ€œWhoa, Calliope, are you out of your mind? Why would you hit her?โ€

โ€œHave you lost it? Why did you slap Lisette?โ€

โ€œWhat did she do to deserve that?โ€

โ€œCalliope, youโ€™re acting crazy!โ€

โ€œLisette, are you okay?โ€

โ€œLisetteโ€™s already injured. Her armโ€™s in a sling! Calliope, youโ€™ve gone too far!โ€

โ€œIโ€™m fine. Itโ€™s my fault. I shouldnโ€™t have called Calliope my sister!โ€ Lisette kept her head down, playing the victim.

She smirked slightly, knowing the crowd would rally against Calliope.

Calliope, however, remained calm, listening to everyone defend Lisette.

โ€œAre you all done?โ€ she asked after a while.

Everyone paused, shocked.

โ€œArenโ€™t you hungry? I know I am,โ€ Calliope said coldly. โ€œAre we going to eat or what?โ€

Everyone was thrown for a loop by her nonchalance.

Suddenly, the tension deflated.

โ€œYeah, itโ€™s dinner time. We should eat.โ€

Someone suggested, โ€œLetโ€™s have the servers bring out the food, and we can chat over dinner.โ€

โ€œExactly. Itโ€™s been a while since weโ€™ve all caught up!โ€

โ€œRight. Letโ€™s eat together!โ€

Calliope sat at a random table, and Portia sat beside her. Gradually, everyone else found their seats as well.

With the seating mostly filled, a few ended up at Calliopeโ€™s table. The table fell into an awkward silence, people stealing glances at Calliope but saying nothing.

Soon, the food started to arrive. Calliope began eating at her own pace.

Someone came over to offer a toast, and Calliope poured herself a drink.

โ€œCalliope, remember me?โ€ A guy stood before her, smiling with a glass in hand.

โ€œSoren?โ€ Calliope glanced at the man in front of her, who sported a slicked-back hairstyle and a bit of a round physique, not much different from their school days.

โ€œYou still recognize me, huh?โ€ Soren chuckled, resting a hand on the back of Calliopeโ€™s chair, trying to slide his hand onto her shoulder.

Calliope squinted slightly, pinching Sorenโ€™s wrist between her fingers and moving his hand away. โ€œWhatโ€™s up?โ€ Soren played it off. โ€œYouโ€™re married to Silas, huh? We go way back, so maybe you could do me a favor and introduce us?โ€
