Chapter 338

โ€œOh, by the way, someone seemed pretty interested in the whole โ€˜whoโ€™s better between me and Lisetteโ€™ debate. Since thereโ€™s curiosity floating around, I feel like we should probably settle that, right?โ€

โ€œOnce Iโ€™m done eating, we can chat about it. Hey, weโ€™re all here, might as well enjoy the show, right? And thereโ€™s so much good food. Itโ€™d be a shame to let it go to waste!โ€

Calliope spoke as she continued munching on her plate of sliders and fries.

After a bit, she finally felt full and stood up with a leisurely stretch.

She glanced down at Lisette, who was still on her knees, unsure whether to stand or stay put, looking a little flustered.

It seemed like Calliope was about to do something unexpected.

โ€œCalliope, letโ€™s just leave it. Itโ€™s my fault for making everyone misunderstand you! Please donโ€™t be mad, okay? Iโ€™m really sorry!โ€

Lisette swallowed nervously, casting a wary glance at Calliope, a sense of foreboding creeping in.

Was she about to make a fool of herself?

โ€œApologize?โ€ Calliope shook her head. โ€œYou havenโ€™t done anything wrong, so why apologize to me?โ€

She looked around at the gathered crowd. โ€œIf you apologize, people might start badmouthing me even more, right? Letโ€™s hold off on the apologies. Weโ€™ve got some things to settle first. People need to see who you really are before a proper apology can happen.โ€

With a sly smile, Calliope walked towards the stage in the banquet hall, all eyes following her.

As she ascended the steps, the crowd instinctively parted, creating a path for her. Though whispers and murmurs continued, they were much quieter now, overshadowed by a strange sense of anticipation.

โ€œWhatโ€™s Calliope planning to do?โ€

โ€œWhat did she mean by all that?โ€

โ€œIs she trying to prove something about Lisette?โ€

โ€œWhatโ€™s there to prove? Everyone knows Lisetteโ€™s the better one here. Who does Calliope think she is?โ€

โ€œGetting up on stage doesnโ€™t make her any better.โ€

โ€œSheโ€™s clearly got a skewed perception of herself.โ€

The murmurs continued, though noticeably subdued, as people returned to their seats, eyes glued on Calliope, trying to guess her next move.

Calliope, however, remained calm as she reached the stage, pulling out her phone for a quick check.

โ€œPerfect timing,โ€ she said with a confident smile. Then she turned on the banquet hallโ€™s projector, dimming the lights and drawing the curtains until the room was bathed in darkness, save for the projectorโ€™s glow.

โ€œWhatโ€™s she up to now?โ€

Everyoneโ€™s focus was on Calliope.

โ€œWhatโ€™s her game this time?โ€ Valerian wondered, unable to decipher Calliopeโ€™s intentions.

Lisette stayed on her knees, fear creeping in as she watched Calliope with growing anxiety.

What was she planning to show?

Could she be using the projector to reveal something?

Impossible. Calliope never had any evidence that could prove anything about Lisetteโ€™s true nature. If she had any proof, she would have spoken up years ago.

Lisette tried to reassure herself; there was nothing to worry about!
