Chapter 339

Calliope stood confidently on stage, and soon enough, Portia dashed over to lend a hand. Even though Portia wasnโ€™t entirely sure what Calliope had up her sleeve, she trusted her implicitly. She knew just how amazing Calliope was; Lisette wasnโ€™t even in the same league as her, not by a long shot.

Portia understood why Calliope had kept a low profile over the past few years. But Calliope had mentioned she was planning a comeback, and she wasnโ€™t going to hide her true self any longer.

With that in mind, today promised to be quite the spectacle. It was a shame, though, that Mavis wasnโ€™t around. If her two trusty sidekicks were both there, it would be even more entertaining.

โ€œWhat on earth is she planning?โ€ someone in the crowd murmured.

โ€œYeah, whatโ€™s she up to this time? Is she going to embarrass herself again?โ€ another voice chimed in.

โ€œHonestly, I wouldnโ€™t be surprised. Calliopeโ€™s been making a fool of herself since we were kids.โ€

โ€œExactly! Calliopeโ€™s a bit of a train wreck. I canโ€™t see her pulling off any surprises.โ€

โ€œWhyโ€™s she so stubborn, anyway? Doesnโ€™t she know how to apologize?โ€

โ€œReally, itโ€™s not like weโ€™re asking her to perform brain surgery on the eldest Jewell son. We just want her to share some info about the Miracle Doctor. It wouldnโ€™t kill her to open her mouth.โ€

โ€œI just donโ€™t get her.โ€

โ€œWho would? Sheโ€™s got a few screws loose if you ask me.โ€

โ€œLetโ€™s just see what sheโ€™s up to. She canโ€™t change the fact that sheโ€™s always been second best.โ€

โ€œWho knows, maybe sheโ€™ll prove something.โ€

โ€œYeah, right! Calliopeโ€™s reputation hasnโ€™t been great for years. Whatโ€™s she going to prove?โ€

โ€œExactly!โ€

The chatter buzzed around the room, but on stage, Calliope had already set her plan in motion. Standing at the center with a microphone in hand, she gazed out at the audience. โ€œSince all of us high school classmates are gathered here today, Iโ€™d like to take a moment to clear the air about a few things.โ€

โ€œMake it quick!โ€ one person shouted.

โ€œYeah, just cut to the chase, Calliope!โ€ another echoed.

โ€œWhat do you need to clarify, anyway?โ€ someone else scoffed.

The crowdโ€™s eyes were filled with disdain, convinced that Calliope had nothing groundbreaking to say. They thought sheโ€™d just make a fuss over nothing, doubting she had any proof to back up her claims.

Most of the classmates had a poor impression of her, and those who might have been more supportive kept quiet, not wanting to stand out.

โ€œIndeed, I might not have a clue,โ€ Calliope said with a hint of a smirk. She pulled a chair over and sat down on stage. Her posture was relaxed, yet she exuded a certain air of wealth and privilege, fitting for a high society heiress.

With Portia adjusting the lights to illuminate her, Calliope looked absolutely stunning, capturing everyoneโ€™s attention. Her beauty was almost surreal, leaving the audience breathless.

โ€œYou know, back in high school, there were a lot of misunderstandings about me,โ€ she began. โ€œWhen I switched schools, I didnโ€™t bother to clear up all those ridiculous rumors. But I never imagined theyโ€™d stick with everyone for so long.โ€

โ€œWhoever started those rumors sure did a good job,โ€ she added with a wry smile.
