Chapter 356

โ€œGo see what their attitude is now,โ€ Calliope said casually, sipping her morning coffee at the kitchen table.

The Jewell family couldnโ€™t really hurt her anymore. Besides, who would turn down a free dinner? She figured she might as well go and enjoy a meal on their dime.

โ€œWant me to tag along?โ€ Silas asked thoughtfully, leaning against the counter.

โ€œNo need,โ€ Calliope replied with a playful grin. โ€œIf you go, theyโ€™ll just be on their best behavior.โ€

The Jewells might not be afraid of her, but they definitely feared Silas. In his presence, theyโ€™d be nothing but polite. Alone, though, she was curious to see if theyโ€™d apologize or double down on their behavior.

โ€œIโ€™ll pick you up later,โ€ Silas said, ruffling her hair affectionately.

โ€œSure thing.โ€

After a momentโ€™s thought, Calliope pulled up Montyโ€™s number from where sheโ€™d blocked it and dialed.

โ€œYou mentioned something about apologizing and taking me out to dinner, right?โ€ she asked once Monty answered. โ€œDo I get to choose where?โ€

โ€œHow about Pearl Tiger Club? I hear their food is to die for. Mind if we go there?โ€ Calliope suggested, picking a place she knew would make Monty sweat.

There was a noticeable pause on the other end before Monty replied, clearly taken aback. But, needing her favor, he chuckled nervously and agreed.

โ€œOf course, Callie! Wherever you want to dine is fine by us!โ€

โ€œGreat. See you then.โ€

After hanging up, Monty turned to Zelda, who sat nearby, looking incredulous.

โ€œDid she say Pearl Tiger Club?โ€ Zelda asked, wide-eyed.

Pearl Tiger Club was a place reserved for the eliteโ€“definitely not somewhere the average family could afford. Eating there required a VIP card that only a handful of people in the entire city possessed.

โ€œDoesnโ€™t Lisette have one of those cards?โ€ Monty asked, glancing at Zelda. โ€œYou spent a fortune and quite some time getting your hands on that card. Use it to make a reservation.โ€

โ€œAre you out of your mind? Do you know how much a meal costs there? Is Calliope even worth it?โ€ Zeldaโ€™s voice rose in disbelief.

โ€œIf Lisette is worth it, why not Callie? Callie is your biological daughter!โ€ Monty retorted.

Zelda huffed, โ€œI havenโ€™t considered her my daughter for a long time. Lisette is my real daughter!โ€

โ€œBut if this dinner can save our company, then itโ€™s worth it. Even if it costs millions, keeping the company means we can make billions!โ€ Monty reasoned.

โ€œMom, listen to Dad,โ€ Valerian chimed in. โ€œOnce Calliope eats, she wonโ€™t refuse to help! And as for Horatioโ€™s legs, sheโ€™d be obliged to help after such a meal.โ€

โ€œLetโ€™s do it,โ€ Horatio added. โ€œJust treat her well. Sheโ€™s stubborn and meticulous, but if sheโ€™s satisfied, she might just lend a hand.โ€

โ€œI feel sick just thinking about it!โ€ Zelda exclaimed, her frustration boiling over.

โ€œThen donโ€™t go,โ€ Monty said with a dismissive wave.

โ€œNo way, I have to be there!โ€ Zelda stormed off to change, fuming all the way upstairs.
