Chapter 356
โGo see what their attitude is now,โ Calliope said casually, sipping her morning coffee at the kitchen table.
The Jewell family couldnโt really hurt her anymore. Besides, who would turn down a free dinner? She figured she might as well go and enjoy a meal on their dime.
โWant me to tag along?โ Silas asked thoughtfully, leaning against the counter.
โNo need,โ Calliope replied with a playful grin. โIf you go, theyโll just be on their best behavior.โ
The Jewells might not be afraid of her, but they definitely feared Silas. In his presence, theyโd be nothing but polite. Alone, though, she was curious to see if theyโd apologize or double down on their behavior.
โIโll pick you up later,โ Silas said, ruffling her hair affectionately.
โSure thing.โ
After a momentโs thought, Calliope pulled up Montyโs number from where sheโd blocked it and dialed.
โYou mentioned something about apologizing and taking me out to dinner, right?โ she asked once Monty answered. โDo I get to choose where?โ
โHow about Pearl Tiger Club? I hear their food is to die for. Mind if we go there?โ Calliope suggested, picking a place she knew would make Monty sweat.
There was a noticeable pause on the other end before Monty replied, clearly taken aback. But, needing her favor, he chuckled nervously and agreed.
โOf course, Callie! Wherever you want to dine is fine by us!โ
โGreat. See you then.โ
After hanging up, Monty turned to Zelda, who sat nearby, looking incredulous.
โDid she say Pearl Tiger Club?โ Zelda asked, wide-eyed.
Pearl Tiger Club was a place reserved for the eliteโdefinitely not somewhere the average family could afford. Eating there required a VIP card that only a handful of people in the entire city possessed.
โDoesnโt Lisette have one of those cards?โ Monty asked, glancing at Zelda. โYou spent a fortune and quite some time getting your hands on that card. Use it to make a reservation.โ
โAre you out of your mind? Do you know how much a meal costs there? Is Calliope even worth it?โ Zeldaโs voice rose in disbelief.
โIf Lisette is worth it, why not Callie? Callie is your biological daughter!โ Monty retorted.
Zelda huffed, โI havenโt considered her my daughter for a long time. Lisette is my real daughter!โ
โBut if this dinner can save our company, then itโs worth it. Even if it costs millions, keeping the company means we can make billions!โ Monty reasoned.
โMom, listen to Dad,โ Valerian chimed in. โOnce Calliope eats, she wonโt refuse to help! And as for Horatioโs legs, sheโd be obliged to help after such a meal.โ
โLetโs do it,โ Horatio added. โJust treat her well. Sheโs stubborn and meticulous, but if sheโs satisfied, she might just lend a hand.โ
โI feel sick just thinking about it!โ Zelda exclaimed, her frustration boiling over.
โThen donโt go,โ Monty said with a dismissive wave.
โNo way, I have to be there!โ Zelda stormed off to change, fuming all the way upstairs.
