Chapter 373

โ€œCattie, Iโ€™ll be on a business trip for a few days,โ€ Silas said, ruffling Calliopeโ€™s hair as he spoke. โ€œGideonโ€™s wedding is around the corner, and Eamon wants you to help at the family estate. Do you have time?โ€

โ€œFunny you should mention that,โ€ Calliope replied, looking into Silasโ€™s eyes. โ€œEamon must be juggling a lot right now with the wedding preparations. Iโ€™ll definitely head over to help.โ€

Silas studied her, as if something was on his mind, but he hesitated for a moment before speaking again. โ€œWith Gideon getting married, weโ€ฆโ€

โ€œIโ€™m fine,โ€ Calliope interrupted. โ€œI moved on from him a long time ago.โ€

What she cared about now was the man standing in front of her. She often feared heโ€™d leave her, worried she was just a stand-in for someone else in his heart. Calliope wasnโ€™t sure who Yara had referred to, but she knew that woman bore a striking resemblance to her. She had never asked Silas about it, fearing their relationship might shatter with just one question.

Her beautiful eyes held his gaze as her hand gently caressed his handsome face. She used to be wary of Silas, intimidated even, but the more time she spent with him, the more she found herself drawn to him.

Silas had a knack for understanding her feelings, often surprising her with thoughtful gestures. Although he occasionally restricted her from indulging in too many sweets, she knew it was out of concern for her health. He was steady, handsome, practically perfect in every way.

Calliope never imagined she would fall for Silas, but she realized she couldnโ€™t imagine life without him. He was always there when she needed him, providing her with emotional support and care. Before Silas, her life had been a little bland; it was only with him that she discovered what sheโ€™d been missing.

A perfect partner, that was what Silas was. His only flaw was perhaps the lingering presence of someone else in his heart, though he never spoke of her.

โ€œIf anything comes up, call me,โ€ Silas said, kissing her forehead. His eyes were filled with tenderness as he gathered her into his arms. โ€œI wish you could come with me on this trip.โ€

โ€œWhy?โ€ Calliope whispered, intrigued.

โ€œI just canโ€™t bear to be away from you,โ€ Silas said, returning to look at her. He could never get enough of her face. โ€œI wish I could keep you by my side all the time!

โ€œYou shouldnโ€™t get too close to Gideon, or Iโ€™ll get jealous,โ€ he added, his tone halfโ€“serious, halfโ€“playful. โ€œDonโ€™t let him touch you. And donโ€™t smile at him. Donโ€™t even look at him.โ€

Silasโ€™s gaze was intense, as if it could swallow her whole.

Calliope found his possessiveness oddly endearing. โ€œDonโ€™t worry. He doesnโ€™t hold a candle to you. I wonโ€™t even notice him.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll be back as soon as possible,โ€ Silas assured her.

Silas left for his trip the following day, and Calliope headed to the family estate. It had been a while since her last visit, and the place was bustling with activity. Upon arriving, she noticed heaps of flowers scattered around the room, with people busy packaging them. The scene left her momentarily speechless.

โ€œWhatโ€™s going on here?โ€ she asked, bewildered by the commotion.

โ€œOh hey, Callie! Youโ€™re here!โ€ Verity exclaimed, rushing to greet her with excitement. โ€œYou wouldnโ€™t believe it. Fleurโ€™s daughter-in-law had this brilliant idea to save money by buying bulk flowers and having us package it ourselvesโ€ฆโ€
