Chapter 374

โ€œNot to mention how much money weโ€™re saving. The time weโ€™re spending helping her wrap these wedding favors could have made us a decent amount of cash.โ€

Fleur furiously packed the wedding flowers, her expression darker than the stormy skies. Theyโ€™d already bought them, and there was no returning them, so here they were, stuck wrapping them up.

Yvette had really pushed her to the limit this time. The nerve of that woman!

Fleur would have loved nothing more than to chuck all those blasted flowers out the window. But Yvette, being the scatterbrained fool she was, had gone and brought them to the old family estate, roping Verity and the rest into helping.

Verity, always one to enjoy a bit of schadenfreude at Fleurโ€™s expense, was only too happy to lend a hand.

โ€œFleur, your daughter-in-law sure is a genius,โ€ Verity chuckled, her eyes dancing with mischief.

Even Calliope was stunned by Yvetteโ€™s antics. The Baker family certainly didnโ€™t need to pinch pennies like this. But then again, Gideon probably funneled a fair bit of cash to the Jansen family since getting hitched to Yvette. That clan was notoriously difficult to deal with. Maybe theyโ€™d run out of funds themselves. Fleurโ€™s dislike for Yvette was no secret, and she was in no rush to dip into her own pockets for Yvetteโ€™s sake.

Calliope, on the other hand, managed to keep a straight face, offering only a slight smile. โ€œAs long as Yvette is happy, itโ€™s only right for us aunties to pitch in.โ€

โ€œOh, absolutely, weโ€™re always happy to help!โ€ Verity interrupted, grinning from ear to ear.

โ€œCome on, Callie, sit with me. Itโ€™s more comfortable over here,โ€ Verity beckoned, patting the seat beside her.

Calliope joined her and helped wrap the flowers. With everyone hustling together, they finally got the job done.

Once the servants whisked the flowers away, the group settled down for afternoon tea, chatting about life and the latest gossip.

Verity was especially animated, eager to hear about the latest buzz from Calliopeโ€™s school reunion. โ€œCallie, is it true? Are you really the Miracle Doctor?โ€

Calliope nodded. โ€œYep.โ€

โ€œMy neckโ€™s been killing me lately. Can you take a look?โ€ Verity asked, her eyes full of hope.

โ€œSure,โ€ Calliope replied, glancing at Verityโ€™s neck. โ€œIt looks like youโ€™ve been spending too much time looking down. Thereโ€™s a bit of tension here.โ€

โ€œCan you fix it?โ€ Verity asked, looking up with anticipation.

Fleur, who had been watching Calliope closely, had seen some of the videos from the reunion. They claimed Calliope was the Miracle Doctor.

Still, she was skeptical. How could someone so young be a doctor, let alone the Miracle Doctor? She suspected the title was self-appointed.

Although Fleur wasnโ€™t quite satisfied with Yvette as her daughter-in-law, and upon comparison, she felt that Calliope was actually better, she hated gossip and didnโ€™t want to acknowledge Calliopeโ€™s skills publicly.

โ€œDoes Calliope even have a medical license?โ€ Fleur interjected. โ€œIf sheโ€™s just a quack, things could get worse.โ€

Calliope, unfazed, had just pulled out her acupuncture needles. She looked at Fleur and smiled serenely. โ€œI do have a license. I could work in a hospital if I wanted. Verity, do you want me to give you a few stitches?โ€

โ€œOf course, I trust you, Callie!โ€ Verity said immediately.

โ€œOh, and Fleur,โ€ Calliope added, turning her gaze to her. โ€œYou donโ€™t look too well, like you might have a bit of a headache. Have you been feeling stressed lately?โ€

Please let us know if you find any errors, so we can fix them.
