Chapter 413
After finishing a hearty breakfast of bacon and eggs, Calliope and Silas headed over to the old Myers family estate.
That morning, Gideon and Yvette were having a wedding ceremony with a bit of a twistโa traditional Western-style wedding. Apparently, Yvette had heard somewhere that Eamon had a fondness for old-fashioned themes, so she insisted on adding a vintage touch to the proceedings at the estate.
The place was decked out with twinkling lights and cheerful decorations, giving it a warm, festive glow. By the time Calliope and Silas arrived, the house was bustling with relatives and guests, creating a lively atmosphere. โAuntie Callie!โ Calista and Dahlia Baker, who were rarely both home at the same time, beamed when they saw Calliope and rushed over. These two adored Calliope and were always glued to her side whenever they could be.
Silas gave them a nod as they came over.
โUncle Silas, can we borrow Aunt Callie for a bit?โ Calista asked with a cheeky grin.
Silas raised an eyebrow, playing along. โBorrow? What do you mean borrow? My wifeโs not a library book, you know.โ
โNot like that! Donโt get the wrong idea!โ Calista laughed. โI just need her help to pass a level in my game! You wouldnโt believe how awesome Aunt Callie isโshe can tackle anything!โ
โSheโs the best! I bragged to all my classmates that she could help me clear the game levels! Imagine if I couldnโt do itโitโd be embarrassing for Aunt Callie, and by extension, you, right?โ
โSo, for your reputation, can we borrow her, please?โ
Silas chuckled, shaking his head. โYouโre quite the talker, arenโt you?โ
Calista grinned. โWell, I learned from the best! Youโre cool and generous, right, Uncle Silas? Youโre my favorite!โ Silas didnโt say much, just glanced at Calliope. โItโs no use asking me. Your Aunt Callie makes her own decisions.โ
Calista pleaded, โAunt Callie?โ
Calliope couldnโt help but laugh. โAlright, alright, Iโll help you out!โ
โYay! Youโre the best, Aunt Callie!โ
โAunt Callie, I have a question too! Can you help me with something Iโm curious about?โ
Before she knew it, Calliope was whisked away by the two lively siblings. Silas watched them go with a thoughtful expression before heading inside to catch up with Eamon and lend a hand in welcoming the guests.
Meanwhile, Calliope found herself in a cozy corner with Calista and Dahlia seated on either side. She helped Calista with her game first, then turned to Dahlia. โNow, whatโs your question?โ
Dahlia, with a spark of curiosity in her eyes, asked about some health-related topics. โAunt Callie, I heard youโre something of a miracle worker with this stuffโis that true?โ
Calliope nodded, smiling warmly at Dahlia. โThatโs right. Are you interested in learning about this kind of thing?โ
โTotally,โ Dahlia replied eagerly. โIโve always been fascinated by health and wellness, and Iโm thinking of studying it. If youโre so knowledgeable, can I come to you with my questions?โ
โOf course,โ Calliope assured her. Sheโd always had a soft spot for Calista and Dahlia. They were different from the rest of the Baker familyโone was quite sharp, and the other was sweet and obedient, always close to her.
โAnd what about you, Calista?โ Calliope asked with a smile. โAny plans for what you want to study?โ
โMe? Iโm not sure yet. I was thinking of asking Uncle Silas for some advice on what major would be best,โ Calista said thoughtfully. โDo you think heโd give me good guidance, Aunt Callie?โ
