Chapter 412
The Baker family all knew, even if they didnโt openly admit it, that Silas had contributed immensely to the familyโs success. So when Calliope overheard Gideon speaking dismissively about Silas in front of a crowd, she was furious.
Anyone unaware of the truth might have thought that Silas owed his status to the Bakers, but Calliope knew better. And if she knew, she was going to stand by her man, no matter what.
Calliope looked up at Silas, her eyes firm with determination. As she unbuttoned his shirt, she couldnโt resist tracing her fingers along his collarbone. Silas had a body that was simply irresistible. Years of a disciplined lifestyle and regular workouts had sculpted him into a masterpiece, complete with a chiseled eight-pack and flawless skin.
โNo one messes with you, not on my watch,โ Calliope declared, her voice firm. โYouโre my man!โ
Silas looked down at her, then swept her up into his arms, tumbling them both onto the bed. He leaned down, capturing her lips with his own.
โItโs my job to protect you,โ he murmured between kisses.
โNo, I want to protect you too. Donโt forget, your wife is pretty awesome herself!โ Calliope shot back with a playful smirk.
Silas chuckled softly, โI know.โ
Before she could say anything else, his kisses deepened, leaving Calliope breathless and speechless. They spent the night making love, over and over againโฆ
Silas couldnโt get enough of her, having been away on a business trip and missing her terribly. The consequence was that the next morning, with the wedding to attend, Calliope could barely bring herself to get out of bed.
โMy legs are so sore,โ Calliope pouted, casting a mock glare at Silas. โAll those different positionsโฆโ
โDidnโt you enjoy it?โ Silas teased, planting a kiss on her cheek. โI recall you sounded pretty happy last night.โ
Calliope blushed, โNo matter how good it feels, itโs exhausting.โ
โAre you sore?โ Silas asked gently. โLet me have a look.โ
As he started to pull the covers back, Calliopeโs cheeks flushed a deeper shade of pink. โNo!โ
โWhy shy now? I saw everything last night,โ Silas teased, holding her leg firmly. โLet me check.โ
Calliope relented, lying still. Despite his gentleness, the nightโs adventures had pushed her to her limits. It was exhilarating and new, but his stamina was relentless, leaving her begging for mercy towards the end.
โA bit red,โ Silas noted with a touch of concern. โIโll put some ointment on it later.โ
Calliope huffed in response. โNo more touching me this week!โ
โSweetheart!โ Silasโs voice was full of mock despair. โA whole week? Thatโs impossible!โ
โYes, it is! Some people only do it once a month!โ Calliope retorted, cheeks puffed in defiance.
Silas groaned, โIโm not an old man! Iโm young!โ
โDoesnโt matter! Overindulgence is harmful, and as a naturopath, I know these things!โ Calliope said with seriousness. โWe need to be moderate for our health!โ
โI donโt believe it!โ Silas grumbled, looking utterly dejected.
โI donโt care, I canโt handle it!โ Calliope declared, slipping off the bed and dashing into the bathroom.
โSweetheart, I think we should practice more, so you get used to it. Then it wonโt be uncomfortable,โ Silas reasoned, standing at the bathroom door with a hopeful expression. โI think weโre just doing it too little!โ
